You remember the parable that Jesus told while in Simon’s house. Simon a Pharisee had invited Jesus to dinner, and Luke tells us that a woman came in and anointed Jesus’ feet with her tears and an expensive ointment. You can read the resulting parable in (Luke 7:41-42).
The parable was told because not only did Simon but we also needed to hear it. But more than that, we needed to consider Simon’s judgment concerning who will love more. Because Jesus said to Simon concerning his judgment:
Luke 7:43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he [Jesus] said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged. (KJV)
If we ponder this answer; then we can understand the quality of our own love for Jesus, and we can see why one, who thinks themselves to be “good”, would potentially have little or no love for Jesus.
The world is made up frankly, of sinners and of hypocrites, who possibly never will see their own sin. I know because I was one. A hypocrite sees their sin in the $25 dollar debt category in this parable. He knows that he is not perfect, but then who is? He like Simon has judged that rightly, but by thinking himself to owe little; he then has little need for or little love for Jesus. He has never considered what God says concerning his own righteousness. Isaiah tells us:
64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Today I’ll use the Gays as just one example. They are like me and possibly like Simon. They invite Jesus to dinner. They attend His messages just as the Pharisees had gone to hear Jesus speak. So did I, even as the Gays do, and we all went to church ignoring our sin.
I didn’t judge those who smoked or who drank alcohol even though I didn’t smoke or drink. After all who was I to judge sin? That’s God’s business. I would just judge what is right for me in my own eyes (“And every man did as he saw fit in his own eyes”).
The LGBTQ within churches are like this. Homosexuals are accepting of Gays who cross dress. Cross dressers are accepting of men who consider themselves a woman and who go into women’s bathrooms and locker rooms. For us in the church, who are accepting of our own sin, it is so much more important to God (in our minds), that we do not judge others sin; than it is for us, to ever stop committing sin ourselves. And after all my sin, if it really is sin, is so much less in God’s sight than the sin of those who judge. In fact we along with God hate those who think that they can judge someone else’s sin, even when they are proclaiming God’s own labeling and judging of it as sin.
Church going Hypocrites will most always engage the Scripture in cafeteria style (picking and choosing what they will believe).
And yes, a hypocrite can be one who judges everyone else’s sin to be worse than his own. And, He therefore has to be the most pleasing to God (he thinks). He also has very little need in his walk for Jesus, certainly not as a savior, and therefore, even less love for Him for what He has done for him.
You see until I saw myself and judged myself, in light of what the whole of Scripture communicates to us, then I was just blind to spiritual truth. God hates sin, all of it. Jesus came not to condemn, but to forgive and to take away sin. No sin will enter into God’s presence.
If your sin is not laid on the heavenly alter where His blood can cleanse it, if you go on thinking that it is questionable as to if you are or are not a sinner; then your sin will be paid for, not by Him but by you yourself in an eternity separated from all that is True and good and filled with light, and you will find yourself in a place where liars abide, and in total darkness with Demons to rule over you, and to mete out your just reward. Because God will do what He says that He will do.
No man will ever see God apart from His Judgment, that has not seen himself as deserving of hell itself, and in dire need of this Savior, who will and does forgive confessed (to Him) sin.
My prayer is that all who visit this site will come to know as I have that they are desperately in need of Jesus’ forgiveness. Because He is coming to judge every man for what they have done, and if you have not allowed Him in, to do what He came to do in your life, and if you don’t do that before His return; then you will have missed your opportunity for eternal life with Him.
Don’t be fooled, for paying for your own sin, without Him, will be pure Hell. And to think that what you either do, or condone with your vote, which is considered unrighteous in God’s Word is pure foolishness.
