We can search the Old Covenant’s made by God within Scripture and in them find that God has made covenants with Abraham; with Israel; with David; but He saved the best for last. In every covenant that He made, it was His word that sealed each. Additionally there may be blood, but not God’s blood. That is not until Messiah (His Son) humbled Himself and came down with not only the promise of a New Covenant, but a covenant intended to be sealed with the very blood of God. It’s not that His Word was not good enough. In Fact His Word was Him, His Son is His Word (read John chapter one), but the Word only told the story of His promises to be fulfilled through His Son (His promised Messiah).
He came not only to fulfill and complete what was old, but to establish the seal on His people. Those who would in Him become what it was so impossible for them to become apart from His life giving blood covenant.
Jesus said;
Matthew 26:28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. (NASB1995)
“Forgiveness of sins”, what an amazing thought. But an even more amazing experience. What would it be like for a mere mortal man, such as I (so prone to sin), to have fellowship with the all powerful perfect God (the Father and His Son), the creators of the universe (of all that is and ever will be). Yet this is what He came forth to do.
Matthew 26:29 “But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.” (NASB1995)
He brought into existence His Fathers Kingdom.
John 5:25 “Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. (NASB1995)
Are the dead herein either mortally dead or are they Spiritually dead? (Study to show yourself approved a workman who needeth not be ashamed).
But, this is not all that Jesus told of this relationship with His Father:
John 4:23 “But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. (NASB1995)
This He told the Samaritan woman, when proving to her that He knew all about her, for He is Messiah. And it was her knowing that He knew her that made the difference. That’s a testimony of a true worshiper. It comes when we realize that He knows us. He knows our sinful self, and still loves us and is willing to welcome us into His Fathers kingdom, where He has His seat on the right hand of His Father God’s own throne. I came to have such a testimony: (sinner that I was), when He spoke only one sentence to me: He said: “Jerry, all this time you have tried to do for yourself what only I can do for you”. And I knew at that moment that He knew me. He knew that I was a hypocrite, because I was so good at covering my sin, and pretending that I was not a sinner. Thinking that I was somehow good enough to enter God’s heaven. He knew me and I was undone.
The only covering for our sin is the blood of His confirmed covenant. It is not covered by our hiding it from others. If some testimony has ever awakened anything in you; then seek Him for His truth, because it was in my seeking that I Found the Spiritual rebirth in Him. Jesus said:
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (KJV)
The world makes fun of this promise, which Jesus told us that was available to us, and very necessary for us to grasp. He made it known when He said to Nicodemus: “you must be born again”.
This counselor that He sends is in us (a spiritual birthing) to lead us into His truth. (Study to show yourself a workman who needeth not be ashamed). And you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Jesus said: “ I am the way the truth and the life, no man cometh to the Father except by me”. Believers Him, for He knows you.
