I so readily identify with Jesus, as recorded by Luke: not that I am worthy of comparing with Him and with His love; but with His sadness I can identify.
Luke 19:41 When He approached [Jerusalem,] He saw the city and wept over it, (NASB1995)
I have of late found myself weeping over family members and dear friends who are my loved ones as well. This can occur as I am praying for them and that means for you. And I know that part of the reason for such emotion is that I also know that if Jesus’ own weeping over Jerusalem did not save those for whom He was weeping, then mine may not bring some of you either into His arms either. How do I know that His weeping did not? Because of what Luke further told us that Jesus said at that time: for He went on to explain His weeping:
Luke 19:42 saying, “If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes. (NASB1995)
It’s my heartfelt concern that if one of these whom I do so dearly love (you know who you are because, I have told you that I love you), knowing that I could not come close to loving you and these others, as He had loved and does loves even these same ones, whom He has allowed me also to know and love; and yet, those over whom He wept back then did not come to Him. And because they did not He gave them over to a blindness. It’s not that all of them refused to turn and follow Him, for many did, but for those who did not, at least part of His weeping was over the fact that He would not see these that He so loved ever again following the judgment. They had made their decision to turn from Him who was the light of the world; and to continue to follow the darkness that was a world without Him.
When I weep over you, who are one that I so love, I can not know, if I were to soon die even as Jesus did soon die, whether I will or would not ever see you again if you are not now walking with Him.
And so should you read this now or hear it read one day after I’m gone; please consider the seriousness of your decision to follow or not to follow Christ as the only Lord of your life; even as I had done so many years ago.
And should you read this now, and should you be so touched by His love being poured out to you by His Spirit through me; then please let me know should it be the case that you have found Him worthy to take control of your own life, even as I had done. For just knowing that you are safe in His arms would be the greatest blessing that I could receive in this life right now, which has been so filled with blessings already from Him.
Lord Jesus I pray that you would give these, whom you know just one more chance to seek You, for if they seek You with the sincerity of their heart You have said that they will find.
Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Matthew 7:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. (KJV)
It is my ernest desire that we spend eternity together. Know this, that one day we will stand either beside Him as our Lord, or before Him as our Judge. May my tears for you at that time be tears of joy and not of sorrow.
