I had had a response to a post: the response was about turning the other cheek.  Following is my understanding of Jesus telling us that: with some added examples of such:

“My brother, I understand your frustration with that statement by Jesus. I have a rule when dealing with Scripture to never build my actions or beliefs on just one verse taken out of the context of the remainder of Scripture.  The question is: did Jesus never act in a different way and if so why did He if He did?  Think of the driving the money changers out of the temple.  We are told to resist the devil. Without getting long winded that is what He was doing.  He was the Religious authority over the Temple worship.  

On the other hand when He was before pilot and arrested He was obeying a worldly government authority (one that Adam had yielded over to Satan), and additionally He was obeying His Fathers will, both of which we are told also to do, and since both were now aligned in His circumstance; then He gave His beard. One of the Old Testament prophets says that His beard was plucked out. He willingly gave his other cheek at that point for it was time.”

The above was edited a bit for clarity. Here are some added examples.  

It’s kinda like when  Shadrack Meshack and Abednigo went into the fiery furnace, and Daniel went into the Lions den.  At that time they were a captive people. The time for fighting against evil for Israel was either over or on hold.  They did not draw swords.  The time of standing and doing what was right is never over however, so they resisted doing what would have been wrong before God, and they were punished by their captors for it. They did not resist their captors, just the wrong being asked of them,  just like Jesus would later do, yielding the other cheek.  Unlike Jesus however, they did not (nor do we) know just how God would use this obedient action.  Some men are delivered as was Daniel and his brethren.  Some are crucified as was Peter or beheaded as was Paul.  

But so long as God allows us to be able to freely and legally resist evil as supporters of righteousness within our legal system of governance, and as long as we are legal supporters of a commander in Chief over our military, then we should stand for driving the money changers out of the temple (you get my drift). Once God had given them and does give us over to say a Muslim rule (Not saying this will happen but it could), then we no longer fight, but we willingly lay our heads on the chopping block, and we do that for Jesus, not for ourselves; for our God is able to deliver us and should that not happen then He will raise us up at the last day.  This is our blessed hope; a hope that scripture gives as a promise to all who believe, and who endure until the end.
