There is so much controversy over what Jesus taught prophetically to His disciples.  Is it truly this hard to figure out?  Roughly half of the Church believes that Jesus could come back at any moment, and that this His message is yet future.  Another roughly one third believes that what was stated by Him was fulfilled in the generation that heard Him say it.  Many of these as well as others do not accept an imminent return, and thus they believe the Church to go through Tribulation before Jesus returns.

So I want us to consider for this post: is this prophecy yet future?

Some facts:

-After the third Jewish revolt occurred in 135 A.D. the Jewish people were scattered throughout the world by Emperor Hadrian.

-As to wars occurring during this period: the Parthian Empire and Rome fought during the time period. China fought over the Silk Road with Xiongnu nomads. The Kushans fought neighboring territories including India.  So yes there were wars and rumors of wars then.

-And yes there were comets and other signs recorded by Josephus during this time.

-Both Mathew and Acts record Earthquakes.

Besides this: What do we know concerning This prophecy?

The Jewish dispersion:

Luke 21:24  And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. (KJV)

The last parry of this verse is hard to get around.  It’s a last generation prophecy.

And Jesus seems clear with this statement:  Luke 21:22  For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. (KJV)

These last two verses here are the things that we know, which should allow us to preclude 70 AD and its generation of mankind from being a complete fulfillment of this prophecy.  Jesus had one generation in mind.  That Generation had to be the last Generation before He would Return. There is much written about Israel, just concerning her dispersion and her regathering in the O. T., which must be fulfilled within the time of this generation that Jesus Himself placed in this prophecy in order to clarify  this question.

So then if this is for the last generation, does part of this generation get to opt out of the fulfillment of all things that He stated must be fulfilled?  If there is a prophecy within Scripture which calls for a pre-Trib gathering of the Church, then it must be part of “the all things” that “must be fulfilled” according to Jesus.  So can anyone really prove that what Jesus meant when He said pray that you have power or strength or be accounted worthy to escape all these things that He meant that you will be Raptured in order to escape, because each of the teachers believing in the Pre-Trib version of the Rapture will almost to the man tell us that we really have nothing to do but to go up when the Trumpet blows, as Jesus comes down.  But this is not what Jesus is saying here.  He puts an onus on the believer for this escape.  In fact I would also tell you the same concerning the Rapture.  If you are a believer. Then you will go up when Jesus Comes.  But these things that Jesus wants us to pray about during those days, should we be here, are in some versions saying power, some strength, and some that we be worthy to escape.

Yet, for some this word “escape” itself simply means Rapture, without the text actually saying such.  So, It along with such statements as, “apostasy” for some, or “the Blessed Hope”, or “comfort one another with these words”, or “I go and prepare a place for you, and if I go I will come again and receive you unto myself”and I could go on.  But, by making other words mean Rapture is the basis of the argument, and it is the way a pre Trib Rapture is attempted to be proven. It is not proven by Jesus saying or having stated anywhere in His word, (the Scripture), a simple I (or if Paul is writing it He) will come for you before the Antichrist is revealed to catch you away.  Because this is what is believed by millions of Christians.

But instead this is what Jesus says:   After the Tribulation of those days, when the earth is dark, I will send my Angels to gather the elect from heaven and earth.  And Paul was inspired to write it this way.  The day of the Lord, which he has told us will come as a thief in the night (1 Thes 5:2), which is an agreed time for the Rapture by most, but then Paul poopoos that with (that day of the Lord) will not come until after the apostasy and the coming of the Antichrist (2 Thes 2:3).

So what and where is the evidence to the contrary?  The actual evidence is opposite what pre-Trib teaching states.  I must ask then for a clear verse with the pre-Trib rapture stated to be part of the “all things which are written”, of which Jesus spoke.

I know that the gap in Daniel’s prophesied years concerning Israel as being in possession or  control of Jerusalem is now pushing 2000 years.  I know from Jesus teaching seen here that that is the time of the Gentiles, and that includes the time for them to be saved, but Scripture says nothing about that bringing the time for a Rapture of those Gentiles.  Scripture says nothing about a Church age coming to a close.  It says nothing about excluding Israel from the Church when she is saved.  Inn fact Jesus seems to say the opposite, for He says that the 12 Disciples all but one of whom became Apostles in the Church will rule the 12 tribes of Israel in the Kingdom.  Listen:

Matthew 19:28  And Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on His glorious throne, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. (NASB1995)

We also are told that we will rule with Christ.  So there obviously will be a pecking order or hierarchy, in an eternal Kingdom. The new Jerusalem has its foundation anchored in the 12 foundation stones named for the 12 Apostles; and its gates for the 12 Tribes of Israel.  We are to rule apparently from this city.  Paul tells that we are one new man with the saints of the covenants and promises in Ephesians 2.  Just when were we then again separated into two?  Give me scripture with all verses backing your belief.

I believe that Jesus will return soon.  But before He does there will be Great Tribulation.  You might want to read this:
