There are three feast days in the fall :(Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and Tabernacles): these occur during the fall, and all within a short fifteen-day time period.  Jesus it is said will fulfill these during the days of His future return to earth, called His Second Coming.

He has fulfilled the first four spring feasts during the last Days of His first coming. I think it can be argued that He has partially fulfilled a fifth feast also, but just like our God often works, He has done so in a puzzling way so as to cause us to study in order to show ourselves approved.  We will explore all this.  But for now there are three remaining fall feasts which He will fulfill.

In Leviticus 23:5. We find the Passover feast.  It, pointed to Jesus shedding His own blood for us. Appearing as the Lamb of God.  If His sacrifice is accepted by us then God’s wrath will pass over your sins and mine.

In Vs 6 we see the feast of unleavened bread:  fulfilling it, Jesus’ body was in the grave during the first days of the feast of unleavened bread. He being the sinless unleavened bread of life, died for your sin. And here is where I believe the fifth feast is partially fulfilled.  It is my thinking that Jesus has already made atonement for our sins, but not on the day of the feast itself. So how is the feast of Atonement a fall feast?  For He was the scapegoat, who took upon Himself our sins in the Garden and then bore them to the cross taking them to the grave, making atonement for all sin.  So what is the Atonement represented in the Fall feast that He will fulfill?

In 23:10.  Is First Fruits the Spring feast, which pointed to Jesus resurrection (1 Cor: 15:20).

In Lev. 23:16. We have Pentecost, which occurred when Jesus baptized His Church on this earth with His Holy Spirit on this feast day.

All this was fulfilled in the last days of His first coming. But Lev. 23:24-34, it is said are yet unfulfilled.

There are three feasts then, yet to be fulfilled. They will be fulfilled soon. But we must remember that soon to the God, who is eternal and views things in terms of eternity is not necessarily the same to us. Yet the signs given us by God’s only begotten Son, relates this term to be “soon”.  Soon, for us living at this time in man’s history?  Maybe.  Yet, it was stated to be soon two thousand years ago.  But the worlds events only now seem to be ripening and to be comparable with these signs.

So what is expected from Jesus as He fulfills the last three feasts.

The first is the feast of trumpets. Leviticus 23:24  “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘In the seventh month on the first of the month you shall have a rest, a reminder by blowing [of trumpets,] a holy convocation. (NASB1995)

This feast of Trumpets is related to Jesus actual return which is called the Day of rest. This day is accompanied with resurrection and Rapture.  It is associated with the seventh day of creation when God rested.  It begins a 1000 year day of Christ called the millennium.  It introduces His taking up His abode with us on the earth for 1000 years which is His fulfillment of the feast of Tabernacles or booths, when God will tabernacle with us.  So what is the feast of Atonement doing in the Fall feasts if Jesus is our Atonement for our sin?

What then is the likely reason why this feast awaits His return?Even though you and I are in Christ because of His atoning work, our final Atonement awaits His Judgment, and thus is part of our reward.

James 1:12  Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. (KJV)

Jesus had told us: do not let any man steal your  crown.  Our Crown will not be given until His day of judgment.  Although the atonement for our sin was paid by Him, yet, it, (for God’s own reasons in keeping with His word) will thus await the feast day of Atonement, which seems the likely time for the Bema Judgment seat of Christ.

Jesus says:

Revelation 22:12  And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. (KJV)

Every man’s reward awaits this His Coming back to this earth. And our Atonement coming from Him awaits this day.  See you tomorrow.
