There is a hope that all believers share. A hope that the world without Jesus does not possess.
This hope is available for all men. Jesus made sure that we knew of it when He stated:
John 3:14 “As Moses lifted up the snake [on a pole] in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up. 15 Then everyone who believes in him will have eternal life.” 16 God loved the world this way: He gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life. (GOD’S WORD)
To all these who will believe in Him there is life. And that life is eternal. Even though you may one day die in Him you possess the guarantee that you will be resurrected, and you will live forever in His kingdom. But there is a warning that Jesus wants everyone to understand, so he follows this promise with a warning:
John 3:18 Those who believe in him won’t be condemned. But those who don’t believe are already condemned because they don’t believe in God’s only Son. (GOD’S WORD)
Belief is everything. Belief is the key to this blessed hope not being alive when He comes as it is often misunderstood. There are pastors following certain theologians, who confuse this promise of life which is for all those who will die in Jesus. These teachers try to make this hope only for those who remain breathing until the Savior appears. It is for them but not just for them. If that were the case then none of the 11 apostles or Paul himself, who wrote of this hope would have ever possessed the hope of which he wrote, nor could they ever realize it, because they are dead. Think about this, for if this were true your dead parents in Christ will never realize this hope. This teaching of theirs is false. Hope is the evidence of things not seen. You and I possess this hope, because He is risen. Our resurrection is His promise of our own resurrection. Men have laid down their lives knowing that to die in Him is gain. Peter was told of his own coming death even before Jesus assented on high, and Peter clung to his blessed hope because Jesus himself had resurrected. Hope, our hope is in evidence because He lives and His word lives within us.
Apart from Him there is no evidence of hope. There is only false hope. Do you want to know Him? Pray to Him to reveal to you the truth of that hope; then read His word. Read first the book of John. You will find Him there if you truly seek Him. Seek and you will find.
Jesus further said: “my sheep hear my voice and follow me”. His word will lead you and guide you if you believe.
Blessings to you and your family this coming year. May His Life shine greater, may His hope settle our hearts and may His love hold us true in this hour.
