Let me first define “us”. God has a people who are believers in His existence as creator and in His provision of deliverance from the consequence of our own sin. We believe the Bible. In Israel there was an entire continuum on which could be placed the various levels of His peoples devotion to Him. We are no different in this day of our Lord in 2021. So I ask myself and I ask you on which part of this continuum of devotion do we find ourselves? Jesus when addressing the Laodiceans said “I wish that you were either cold or hot”, but they were lukewarm. Apparently there was more hope for the cold than for the lukewarm.
When I think of what is occurring in our Nations; those that reside on this North American continent. A continent which God had given us as a haven for freedom from tyranny and oppression, and when I see that this is no longer that haven; then I must ask are we, who call ourselves HIS PEOPLE more inclined to be of this world than we are to be in it but not of it?
If what I just stated is God’s appraisal of believers in America today; than can we expect to once again be delivered with no change on our part?
On the other hand God is a God of mercy and grace. If the presence of only 10 righteous people could have saved Sodom and Gomorrah, maybe there is hope yet for the American continent and this world.
26 And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 28 It was the same as happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building; 29 but on the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 It will be just the same on the day that the Son of Man is revealed. Luke 17:26,28-30 NASB1995
But if there is no revival in this the land, which is the last bastions for the just and right living people who are in Christ; then since we are Likely seeing already the days of Lot; then what does that mean for us and for this world? There is a day coming when God will destroy the evil all at once, just after He removes His own, who like Lot have been turned into a diminished few living on the cold side of the spectrum; but though they be few in number they will be with the remnant of the just and righteous on this earth. What many fail to see is that in the days of lot, there was a small band of people, who were believers, and who lived on the opposite side of the continuum — they were in the world but not of it. And it was Abraham who interceded for lot and his world.
We have a choice as to where we live on this continuum of belief — hot or cold or lukewarm. Either way, Evil will be purged from this world. That is the promise to us from scripture. How we are impacted and rewarded at that time seems dependent upon where we reside on the continuum of our walk with Christ our lord.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from every form of evil [withdraw and keep away from it]. 23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [that is, separate you from profane and vulgar things, make you pure and whole and undamaged–consecrated to Him–set apart for His purpose]; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept complete and [be found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
