I’ve written on this topic before, but I want to bring to your attention one more reason to believe the truth on this subject. This involves the definition of Gospel.
What is the definition of the word “gospel”? You know the answer. The gospel means “good news”. So one might say “aren’t there many answers to this question? Doesn’t a word meaning good news relate to any good news? The answer of course could be yes, but inherit in our question is a requirement placed in God’s good news. This good news in question must come from God and it must involve a savior who is for anyone or all. Listen:
Luke 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. (KJV)
A savior is the context of this good news. Jesus in fact came for all sinners, those who would come to know that they need a savior. They would all come to this understanding? Not, every man would listen, some, probably most would bask in their own self righteousness, needing none of God’s. For that reason God sent a savior for all men, even for the self righteous, if they would only see their sin and repent.
Luke 5:32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (KJV)
Does He mean then that the self righteous are exempt from this good news? Obviously since there are none righteous according to scripture; then Jesus is letting us know that only men admitting their sin can truly be saved. A self righteous man will never turn to Jesus so long as he remains righteous in his own eyes and heart.
Luke 16:16 “The Law and the [writings of the] Prophets were proclaimed until John; since then the gospel of the kingdom of God has been [and] continues to be preached, and everyone tries forcefully to go into it. (AMP)
So, Jesus tells us here that the law and the prophets were proclaimed before John. What then did John proclaim? —Repentance. But, Jesus said that He too came to call sinners to repentance. So is this good news to be two separate means of salvation; one being apart from accepting Christ’s coming to die for our sins, and instead accepting Him only as the King of Israel, and an obedience to Old Testament law?
Luke 2:10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; (NASB1995)
This good news of a savior is for all people. There is no longer Jew and Gentile, male and female, there is only the good news unto us that a savior is born.
If we are to say as many do that Jesus came to offer Himself as King over a Jewish kingdom first, and that since that offer was rejected; then He offered another gospel which was to all who would join His church; then ask, what would have happened had the Jews accepted Him as King?
Remember the good news that the angels proclaimed was to all men. Under Dispensational theology neither offer of their form of good news is to all men. The only good news which meets that criteria for all men includes a message of His death, resurrection and His coming again to establish His Kingdom for all who believe. To segregate His kingdom from that good news amounts to two fake good news presentations.
The kingdom can’t be for all they say, because it is just for Israel — therefore the kingdom gospel excluded Gentiles. The church as they see it is not for all men, because Israel is excluded from it.
The only true gospel is all inclusive for all men. In it His every action is part of the gospel. His Kingdom will be established in Israel and His throne will be in Jerusalem. His bride will reign with Him over an earth populated with mortals. But His bride at that time will be immortal (born again) – eternal. This is the good news to all men. His subjects throughout the earth on the other hand, at that time, will include mortal Jews brought back to Israel, by mortal Gentiles. These will remain mortals until the end of His millennial Kingdom when mortals and death will cease to exist. Satan will be cast into the lake of fire, and death will be destroyed as the final enemy. Mortality cannot exist where death is destroyed. It must be either destroyed or judged to an eternity separating it from God. The judgment of all mortals will take place at the Great White Throne Judgment.
Revelation 20:14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. (NASB1995)
All men who accept the good news will have life eternal exempt from the second death. Mortality will have its end in a judgment taking place at the great white throne judgment.
The one true gospel requires repentance form sin for all mortal men, and the acceptance of the one and only savior of all mortals of the earth. This must include even mortals of Old Testament times. I speak elsewhere on just how they were included in this one and only gospel of grace and forgiveness of sin.
