We do know the story of the boy who cried wolf. Does that story in any way apply to the church in our time?
I have heard Olive Tree Ministries, Jan Markell say more than once that churches no longer teach on the second coming. Why is that?
I want to share with you a thought from an e-mail to me that I received recently concerning my own blog posts:
“You often seem to focus more on the “minors,” such as predicting when Jesus will return (in my defense. I have not once predicted when Jesus would return, I have stated that if God does not intervene to save our governments current slide into debauchery that Tribulation is near upon us, I have presented facts of where we are today and what scripture says about that. He goes on:) rather than how to live in such a way that we are prepared for His return if it happens before we die (I have many ties and even warnings as to how we should thus be living. He goes on:). I understand there is a role for prophesy, but I think it should be about warning us and showing us how to live a life worthy of our faith instead of promoting fringe conspiracy theories (to him election fraud and my take on CoVid is all conspiracy). Frankly, your often questionable teaching (truth?) doesn’t work in my life and undermines your credibility in my mind. I don’t question the sincerity of your faith, just the value of your teaching for me.
In love (Proverbs 27:17) Bob
Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens [and influences] another [through discussion]. (AMP) Lk
The verse he lists is a good verse for us all, but he rejects the iron from me as he states here, and will not listen to me attempting to warn him; because he doesn’t want to hear the experts I present and their evidence, and I then have the problem with him, because he ignores these facts that many bring forth on the election fraud and the problems with CoVid’s treatment by our government, including it’s so called experts. So here we are as Christian brothers ignoring one another, and I suggest to you that the world is even more turned off by the church because of this existing condition. It is fact, and because of it and one other fact that we will get to in a moment we are weakened in our witness.
What do I mean by this? We in the church preach loving our brothers and we do not even consider one another’s points on doctrinal and truth issues for discussion in an attempt at unity. What a witness right? The division over what is truth and what is not is bringing us down before a world that is becoming tired of our message. This world does not want a promise for future fulfillment; it wants what it wants and it wants it now.
Add to this the fact that for over 150 years the vocal prophetic voice in the church has been telling the world that Jesus could return at any moment (there is that now factor), leaving you behind if you do not come to Jesus for fire and wrath protection. This to the point that even our Christian brothers like Bob, don’t want to hear the second coming any longer even at a time when prophetic events predicting Our Lord’s coming are in place for the final push to that coming. The fact of scripture is that His coming is preceded by what now is imminent — The Great tribulation. So yes, the prophets of “Rapture now” have cried Wolf too many times, and now even many of the prophets have changed their message, for even they are tired of the old message which has failed us.
Today we hear a different message occurring at the very time when we stand on the brink of the culmination of Bible prophecy and when Israel stands poised to go through the very time of Jacob’s trouble. Peter prophesied what the result of this time would mean:
Acts 2:22 “Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man accredited [and] pointed out [and] attested to you by God with [the power to perform] miracles and wonders and signs which God worked through Him in your [very] midst, just as you yourselves know– 23 this [Man,] when handed over [to the Roman authorities] according to the predetermined decision and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross and put to death by the hands of lawless [and] godless men. Acts 2:31 he (David) foresaw and spoke [prophetically] of the resurrection of the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed), that HE WAS NOT ABANDONED [in death] TO HADES (the realm of the dead), NOR DID His body UNDERGO DECAY. (AMP)
As you can radially see this message is for Israel, but what is its message for us concerning last days? Still speaking to Israel, Peter says:
Acts 3:19 “So repent [change your inner self–your old way of thinking, regret past sins] and return [to God–seek His purpose for your life], so that your sins may be wiped away [blotted out, completely erased], so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord [restoring you like a cool wind on a hot day]; 20 and that He may send [to you] Jesus, the Christ, who has been appointed for you, 21 whom heaven must keep until the time for the [complete] restoration of all things about which God promised through the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time. (AMP)
Peter is prophesying concerning a time when Israel will accept Jesus, and He will return, because then all prophesied events leading to that coming will have occurred. We still await Israel’s salvation because it occurs during this coming Great Tribulation, and then will come Rapture of all who are alive in Christ, and it will see Jesus presence on earth among us. This time of Jacob’s Trouble is close at hand. Even the United States is wavering in its support of Israel. But what are the prophets of the day saying — Concerning the election that was? —Trump will still be president yet this year. These prophets also believe in a golden age of Christ’s reign through the church not through Him and His physical presence. I can understand that we all would hope for peace, righteousness and common sense in this our time; because these things are missing, but these things are not what scripture tells are to happen in these evil days.
Yes, we do need to love one another as Bob implores, but the ignoring of our times and His purposes for them is predicted by the Lord. Falling away from the truth of scripture themselves is predicted. It is scripture, which produces our faith, and rejecting its message is the very cause of the fall from faith that Jesus spoke of.
The Wolf is now coming for the sheep, and today only some do understand and even care.
