Yesterday while speaking to our Bible Teacher Greg, a verse came up that I saw is appropriate to be considered in our time. I have recently, within the past several months, posted messages from some of todays prophets concerning an outcome for this country’s future which offers hope. These prophecies all imply a positive future for Trump and the Presidency. Each time I post these I make clear the fact that a prophet is only as good as the outcome of his/her words. So is it wrong to have the hope that they offer? Only if that hope is a false hope. False hope can lead to terrible disappointment and loss.

This idea however, of the prophetic is presented to us in scripture. But it is not without controversy among the scholars.

Hebrews 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; (KJV)

These verses are used by the teachers of Dispensational Theology, from which comes the pre-Trib Rapture teaching, to imply that there is no further Prophetic future for the church than that which is recorded in scripture. No prophetic word following Jesus first coming. These verses (to them) state dogmatically that there is no more gift of prophecy since Jesus first coming, as this Word made flesh did away with the need for this gift of prophecy. There is an obvious problem with their assertion. For after Jesus resurrection and ascension prophets were still present in the days following, and were further involved in the recording of scripture. Paul even taught us concerning the prophetic gifts. So there was a fix needed for this obvious glitch in their thinking. Some came to recognize this problem being solved, when Peter quoted Joel:

Acts 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; 17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: (KJV)

So, we are told that this prophecy of Joel’s is obviously being fulfilled at Pentecost. Peter said so. But if we are honest what Peter stated was that this was only the beginning of that fulfillment. So another tweak was needed for this glitch, (these fixes are much like a computer program update to fix the problems).

1 Corinthians 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. (KJV)

Now we are told that we should know that prophecy has ceased, because it tells us here that it has ceased because that which is perfect has come. The perfect coming was Jesus, proclaimed through the perfect finished scriptures called the Bible. No more need then for prophets. But again there is a glitch, because if you read on in 1Cor. 13, you see that Paul says that when that which is perfect is come, then we will see clearly and then it will be no more as from a clouded glass. But even so, to them, the finalizing of the scriptures themselves became the final words that Jesus would speak to us, thus there would be no more need for the prophet beyond the Bible.

And so I ask do you see everything clearly now. Is everything made perfect in your understanding. I would bet that your answer is no, as is mine.

Prophets have served a purpose in our history, and will as the days grow dark in the future, but it is still true that we cannot know that a prophet is true or false until his words either fail or come to pass. And that is true for every prophet except for those recorded in the scriptures themselves. Yet, there are still those who tell us that the words of prophecy in scripture are different then what we hear them to be saying. Let me give you one further example of a potential for a problem concerning where we find ourselves right now, and how the words stated about our time are related which we take from scripture.

Today many of us, especially those who are of the pre-Trib persuasion, would say that we are in the time of Christ’s soon coming, and that we should be looking for a catching away and not for the trouble on the horizon that could mean Tribulation approaching for our nation and the world. And many of you, who are among that former group, are also very hopeful that the many prophets will be right, those who have spoken out favorably regarding this election. But what does scripture tell us about our time?

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but [wanting] to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, (NASB1995)

Now obviously that is not for us who believe the word, is it? ,

Well it is about here, that I’m going to through you a curve ball. If we are in the last days and it is not sound doctrine for us to want a message which tickles our ears. In other words a message of deliverance, and if this word we read here is true, then, according to this word to do as this scripture states, must mean that we do in fact have itching ears. Now if this is brought on by what we don’t want; then what must sound doctrine do for us in these last days?

Sound Doctrine must not be something that we want to hear, but instead something that we do not want to hear at this time. I have often stated that for Satan to become involved in our end time doctrinal confusion; then he must want to tell us something that will benefit him, and to do that it must bring about in some way a disappointment within our thinking, leading to a direct attack on our faith.

So what end time teaching taught to us by many prophecy teachers, who we have heaped unto us, would meet both of these criteria.

This teaching must be very popular among those with itching ears, causing many to teach this unsound doctrine. It must itch our ears, and it must test our faith when it at a later time is proven to be false.

Right away I will rule out a post Trib Rapture from this test. No one really wants to have to go through the Tribulation. People are not calling for more of this teaching. In fact most do not want it.

To me that means we are to look for the Rapture positions, which will both itch your ears and make you question your teachers and your faith if it is proven wrong. Does the pre-Trib Rapture teaching qualify? In fact the pre-Trib and the mid trib Rapture theories both are the only ones that can and would bring disappointment if they one day would be proven wrong. Because, then we would still be here to endure the disappointment that these wrong doctrinal teachings would bring.

And we see today, teachers gathering crowds of believers in prophecy conferences. Speaking to them who banked on the fact that their teaching would not be wrong.

Could this also be true of the many prophets today who are telling us of a Trump victory? We can get very excited that God is going to act, but what if He did not send these prophets with this word? And what if that causes us to not see what is coming until it’s almost too late. It’s never too late, with God, remember that.

Deuteronomy 28:15 “But it shall come about, if you do not obey the LORD your God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes with which I charge you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you: (NASB1995)

Deuteronomy 28:48 therefore you shall serve your enemies whom the LORD will send against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in the lack of all things; and He will put an iron yoke on your neck until He has destroyed you. 49 “The LORD will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as the eagle swoops down, a nation whose language you shall not understand, 50 a nation of fierce countenance who will have no respect for the old, nor show favor to the young. 51 “Moreover, it shall eat the offspring of your herd and the produce of your ground until you are destroyed, who also leaves you no grain, new wine, or oil, nor the increase of your herd or the young of your flock until they have caused you to perish. (NASB1995)

We need revival people. It is never too late to heed the commandments, rather than striking them down as this nation has allowed, and yes even voted for.

Deuteronomy 30:19 “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, 20 by loving the LORD your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.” (NASB1995)

But, these are Old Testament curses, we say, but:

1 Corinthians 10:11 These things happened to make them an example for others. These things were written down as a warning for us who are living in the closing days of history. (GOD’S WORD)

It may just be that God, true to His word, is bringing judgment on America for her sin. We must stand firm in Christ, even if these things be so. Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus.
