Hebrews 6:4-6 For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame.
Tasting of the age to come is an interesting concept. In fact it is a concept that allows us to know beyond the shadow of a doubt just what that age is, and Who is the creator of it and of all things.
When you and I were gloriously saved, when our Lord entered into our heart, in the power of His Holy Spirit, we came to know the meaning of “Thy will be done on Earth as it is in heaven.” Everything changed at that moment as we were broken and reborn with a new heart. We were a new creature. There was a taste of heaven on earth, and the purpose of God’s will on earth was in us.
Jesus told us in Matthew 24 that especially in the days preceding His return many would fall away and hate one another.
These passages mentioned above are not among the most loved by Christianity.
Those who do not believe these words to be possible have found ways to explain away these concepts as they are stated on the pages of scripture. In order to do that they first must make the “falling away” an issue unrelated to the church. The church must be a separated entity not related in any way to Israel, the Church must be an entity unseen in the Old Testament Scriptures. Some have called her the “,” (comma) between between Daniels 69th and 70th weeks. A comma for whom for whom this warning was never meant. This understanding would then mean that Israel was never before in Christ and that she never would be in the future. This, they say is true even though “Christ” means Messiah, and the Messiah is understood to be for Israel.
So the Israel, who is the fulfillment of prophecy, who is in her land today can’t be in Christ, now or ever, if we accept this understanding; because no one who is truly in Christ can fall from that position of the saved or chosen. This then according to them means that Jesus most certainly must be speaking to Israel in Matthew 24, when He speaks of the falling away.
So we must ask — what exactly are the Jews of Israel falling away from?
It becomes Obvious that they must conclude, because of their understanding, that it’s from the law, because everyone knows that Israel was and is saved under the law – right?
For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. Galatians 3:10 KJV
There you have it, that has to be why Jesus stated: he that endures until the end shall be saved. That has to be it. It’s the law that must be endured by Israel. BUT, wait a minute Paul continues in verse 11.
But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. Galatians 3:11 KJV
Will obviously this faith is not in Jesus, it couldn’t be, Jesus was no where near Israel — was He? Now listen carefully:
Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise. Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. Galatians 3:16-19 KJV
Jesus, Paul says the promised seed. This seed was the Christ promised to Israel.
1 Corinthians 15:21 For since by a man [came] death, by a man also [came] the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. (NASB)
So if you are able my brothers, please help me understand just who it is who will fall away, and from Whom or from what will they fall, if indeed these verses be not a warning unto us, who are in Christ, who have tasted of the heavenly gift?
Let it also be known that this understanding of Israel’s separation from The Church that the Christ came to build is the same systematic Theology that has also invented the Pre-Trib Rapture. This theology is presenting a twisted understanding of the scripture. Israel is understood and is presented to be the capstone on the Church which Christ came to build. The first shall be last, and the last first.
Jesus said unto the Jews of His day” Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. John 5:39-40 KJV
Paul stated to the Jews about this Christ:
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. Acts 17:30-31 KJV
All men are to come to God who are abiding in this Christ, enduring until the end in Him. No man Jew or Gentile will be saved apart from Him. And our assurance and our blessed hope is this: if we die in Him we will be raised in Him upon His return to Rapture those who endure in their faith until the end. Jesus said:
Matthew 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. (KJV)
Matthew 10:33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. (KJV)
The twisting of the word comes from only one source and it is meant to serve only one purpose — the defeat of the believer.
