Jesus is the truth and the life. He is the Word of God made flesh. His truth only comes to us as the Word revealed to us by His Holy Spirit. “If I go I will send to you another comforter.”
He we are told will lead us into all truth. He will give us the mind of Christ.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Psalm 51:10-11 NASB
Have you ever wondered why this man David, a man after God’s own heart spoke what could be thought to be. blasphemy today? Think about it.
First he is asking for God to do for him what preachers tell us there is no need for us to concern ourselves with. They say if you are truly saved (chosen or elect) then there is no danger that God would for any reason cast one away from His presence. And if one possesses the Holy Spirit, there is no way that God will take His Spirit from that one.
All of the warnings of Scripture are ignored in today’s gospel message by many if not most theologians.
Paul’s warning to us is either ignored or twisted.
Romans 11:17 Now if some of the branches were broken off, and you, a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among them and participated in the richness of the olive root, 18 do not boast over the branches. But if you boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you. 19 Then you will say, “The branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.” 20 Granted! They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but fear! (NET)
This scripture is twisted to say one of two things. It seems to be agreed by two of the views that the broken off branches represent Israel. Do they? But then there is a departure when considering the wild olive branches that are then grafted in. One view says that these are the church defined as the chosen ones of God, who cannot be lost, and they represent those who have replaced Israel; and if Israel is to be saved that it will only be individually through the church. While the others say that these wild branches are indeed the church, which is a totally separate entity from Israel who was cut off only to be re-ingrafted once the Church has been Raptured.
Both systems miss the fact that individual Israelites were cut off, and Individual Israelites remained, and these latter were those among whom individual Gentiles were grafted in amongst.
The tree of course represents the people of God, The children of Abraham who come to faith in the seed of Abraham, and that seed is Christ who is the root of the tree in whom all must stand united as one.
Jesus paid for your sin. Why did He pay for your sin? To create in you and in me a clean heart. The new covenant confirms that promise. Each of us must enter this covenant through a belief in the Messiah of Israel. Only in Him is there life eternal in Gods presence. None of us are deserving of this life, but it is offered freely to all by the grace of God.
Those who do not stand firm while enduring all that Satan is capable of throwing at them will suffer the same fate as the unbelievers from Israel. Paul says: “but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but fear!” Romans 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. (KJV)
Are we walking in this fear of an almighty God when we think that we are the chosen children of Abraham, while the whole world has been destined to Hell without hope even before they were born. Or are those any better, who see God as the giver of a special dispensation to just the church — a dispensation separate from that of Israel. How can either of these views be understood in light of this clear teaching of scripture.
Jesus is the truth. We are made clean by the word that He has spoken to us. He who has ears let Him hear what the Spirit is teaching us.
