There is a day coming when every man on earth will be in the valley of decision. Don’t wait for that day to make your decision.
Peter is speaking in Chapter 3:8-9 concerning this day. But in the previous verses in chapter 3, he is speaking on the days of old, which scoffers have ignored, yet, in these verses (8&9), he is telling us about God’s heart for all of mankind. Listen:
2 Peter 3:8-9 – “But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”NKJV
Our Heavenly Father’s determination to turn men around will be extreme during the coming Tribulation, which sets up soon before the coming day of the Lord. A day of which Peter later speaks.
For the coming Tribulation is when all the stops are removed by our Father. Paul had once instructed the Corinthian church to turn one of their own over to Satan that his soul might be saved. With the Tribulation God will be loosing every stop including Satan himself onto a world that He God is unwilling to call for the souls of men to perish from. Not at least until He has made every effort to secure their attention. Those who then perish will have made their own choice to do so. He is with this coming Great Tribulation making every effort to bring about repentance within those souls, while He is fully realizing that this will be the final undoing of every soul who refuses His call.
Anyone who has ears to hear, and who is a doer of the word and not a hearer only will not perish. Repentance is the action that God is today calling for, and will be calling for until the last day of this present age is done. All those who seek Him with a contrite heart, will be received by Him.
Woe is me, I am an undeserving sinner, and I am most grateful to God for His gift of salvation through His only begotten Son to me and to everyone, who would call upon His name. Repentance is turning from the world and toward God. You cannot earn this salvation, but you must accept it, and walk in Him — even yielding up your own life to Him. Jesus’ call to us is to abide in Him; follow Him and endure. Are you in Him?
