It is from the inner man that our cry originates. A cry that goes out to our Lord. That cry can be for many things, but the understanding of His word, is the cry of my heart. It must be the cry of any teachers heart. The word of God is so twisted today by men, so that our inner man must cry out for wisdom and understanding.

I love Brian Troxel’s site. Here is what he says:

“In our day the faith of many rests in the words and wisdom of men and not in the power of God.

“That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men,

but in the power of God”

1 Corinthians 2:5

Faith in the wisdom of men is powerless and lifeless; it leaves its adherents looking to someone or something outside of themselves. It is a faith which lacks the reality of present day living. The faith that stands in the power of God knows that the secret of its fulfillment lies in our obedience to His Will.” Taken from Brian Troxal A Word in Season.

Psalm 119:172 My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.

David understood that his own words, that which his tongue would speak, would either bring justification or condemnation.

37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12:37 NASB

This is why as teachers of the word men are held to a high standard and are accountable to our Lord. They are truly justified or condemned by their words.

Psalm 119:173 Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts.

Too often I am around men who deny the power of God to give them understanding concerning His own word from which comes the faith to believe. Faith to believe does not come from man it comes from God’s word alone.

Romans 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (KJV)

It is not that the word is not clearly stated, but that men do not hear what is clearly proclaimed.

When I determined to share with others what God was showing me in His word, I determined that I must not stray from His word, for to do so would mislead not only myself but His sheep. I have watched men speak and teach of things that they knew nothing of.

Have I always been true to that determination of mine? When God’s word collides my inner man cries out for understanding. When men insist on teaching through the collision while simply ignoring it, my inner man cries out for understanding.

Psalm 119:174 I have longed for thy salvation, O LORD; and thy law is my delight.

I take very seriously the word of God, as should we all. Here is a word spoken by the Apostle Paul that I hear loudly:

1 Timothy 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. (KJV)

Yes, understanding and teaching the truth (doctrine) of God’s word is a matter of salvation. This is why I’ve so far chosen the tool of writing, for it allows for contemplation, and crying out when there is the need, in order to speak justification rather than condemnation for both myself and those who elect to hear me.

1 Corinthians 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. (KJV)

May God grant us wisdom and understanding to see and hear The truth of His word.
