There is a passage of scripture that is hated by the world today, and as things were in Israel in that day so it is today. The passage hated by many within God’s elect nation today binds us together with mother Israel.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

1 Peter 2:9 ESV

No this is not that hated passage. But this is who we are. Those who are not a people are called “My people”. We are those people and we are warned by Paul not to do as those chosen, who went before us did.

And with whom was he provoked for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient?

Hebrews 3:17-18 ESV

No this is not the warning that Paul gave but its importance was confirmed in this Hebrews scripture passage. Here is Paul’s statement concerning Israel’s example to us.

Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come.

1 Corinthians 10:11 ESV

But what has this got to do if anything with the hated passage of scripture in our day? You will see.

Paul in Ephesians 5 instructed us on marriage and concerning the relationship between husband and wife. It he said is as the relationship between Messiah and His Church. But this relationship is not what we see today. It is a hated relationship by the Women’s Movement. And the influence of that movement has spawned hatred for the Bible itself among women across the world; and it has had its impact even on the church, and the men of the church. Today much of what Paul taught in this regard has been brought into question.

This has lead to a society today similar to that in the days when Isaiah wrote these words:

My people— infants are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, your guides mislead you and they have swallowed up the course of your paths.

Isaiah 3:12 ESV

This word of God that Paul recorded in Ephesians concerning the relationship of man to woman is despised because it is God true way for our interaction. It was established for our good, and when it is violated it leads to the sin of rebellion. A rebellious people refuse to learn from God’s instruction.

My son, beware of anything beyond these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh. The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.

Ecclesiastes 12:12-14 ESV

But you say that is the Old we are the people of the New.

12 “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

Revelation 22:12-13 ESV

We ignore God’s word at our own peril.

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Ephesians 5:21 KJV

The fear of God is the beginning of our wisdom and here Paul allows us to see it also a necessary motivation in our submission to one another. The Greek word used by Paul hear leaves no doubt as to his meaning. Fear or Terror is its usage.

The world is changing. Women today rule in many respects. Their rule is for the most part not in any way a submission to God or to men. Their requirements are total submission not mutual submission. When men grow weak spiritually then the women will rule over them, and the spirit that motivates this condition is not God’s Spirit.
