7 The law of the Lord is [d]perfect, restoring the soul;

The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

8 The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;

The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.

9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;

The judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether.

10 They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold;

Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.

Psalm 19.

They, all of them are desirable and sweet. The fear of the Lord and the Judgments of the Lord are more desirable than gold; yes they are sweeter than honey. When was the last time that you had a desire for God’s Judgment? The chastening of the Father to his son. When I was a child a spanking from my dad, when it was understood by me that I deserved it, was a cleansing. It brought me to feel sorrow and speak out asking for his forgiveness. But I must admit that the rod brought down when I had no understanding of the need for it caused me to retreat in anger.

The reasons for our heavenly Fathers disciplines are always because He loves us and knows that they are deserved.

But without a knowledge of the law, the precepts, and the commandments His judgments and the need to fear Him are meaningless to us. Not to Him, because He must keep His word. Only the man with knowledge and wisdom coming from Him can understand and respond to His judgments weather coming from Him or from a source sent by Him to purify us.

King Saul was a man given the Spirit of God but not a man knowledgeable in the word. He fell. David a man instrumental in the penning of the word, when he fell he rose in faith understanding God’s discipline. And David will one day soon live again in the presence of his God forever.

Jesus said to them: you have eyes to see and you do not see, ears to hear and you do not hear. This is the greatest condemnation one can hear coming from heart of God. It’s implications are many, but not the least of which is the lack of ones understanding of His judgments and man’s own reasons to fear Him.

Some like Saul believe that because they are chosen, they have no reason to fear Him. Others like David know that when He speaks He means it, and when He disciplines they must repent or become like Saul.

Yes the fear of and desire for judgment from God are more desirable than Gold.

May the chastisement of the Lord rest upon us as His children.
