“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. 14 For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.
Matthew 7:13-14 NASB
Ellen and I occasionally watch Autopsy. You may have seen it. Having seen it myself now many times, I find that there is a pattern. All of the deaths investigated on this “reality TV” program are of the rich and famous. A program that no one really wants to find themselves on, but that each one had a choice when deciding to play the staring role. I won’t say all of them were in this category, because I have not seen them all; but most of the lives lived are very similar though the characters are different.
So what is the choice that lands each one his or her role in this program that no one wants to star in? Yet, when watching, it becomes clear that each one has chosen this their final role? If you have read of the temptation of Jesus in the Scriptures you can clearly see how these roles are gained. Remember we are talking here about the rich and famous. These often have the means to choose whatever road they wish to travel on, yet for some reason their choices have led them to this their final staring role.
Most of us are not rich and we certainly are not famous; but we have opportunity to choose the road on which we travel. Jesus says, that we have the opportunity to find the narrow gate which will put us on the road to life eternal, but it’s clear from what He says that not many even look for this road — though it is now obviously well known that it is there. And the truth is that even fewer actually find it.
One never, in fact, has to search for the wide road. It is always there ready to be traveled at ones leisure. But the narrow road, one must search for this road, and it is not easily found. But to find it leads one to an eternal role on an eternal stage where one is known and admired even by the creator Himself.
Men sacrifice daily by their own choice to gain what they want in this life, but very few sacrifice this life to gain eternity with their creator. The gate is narrow and the way is straight that leads to eternal life and few there be that find it. Have you searched for it? Have you found Him? Jesus says; I am the truth; the life; the way. He is those things and so much more. Seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you.
In another verse Jesus says, that it is so much more difficult for the rich and the famous to find this way, so in this one thing we have an advantage, yet, most seek after fame and or riches and not the way. What are you seeking?
