Terry James, in his article, Prophetic Indicators in View, says: “Those who are watchful for Christ’s soon return from the pre-Millennial, pre-Trib view of Bible prophecy see this present time as inundated with significant signs. We more and more often these days hear the term “convergence” bandied about. “Convergence” is used to define the coming-together at once of most of the indicators the prophets–particularly Jesus–gave for the end of the Church Age (Age of Grace).”
It is interesting that convergence is thought by Terry to leave out “some” of the indicators that Jesus mentioned. And the question that Jesus was answering concerning the end of the age had no mention of a Church Age or Age of Grace. In fact I can actually agree with most of what Terry wrote in the article, but Jesus’ answer included Tribulation just as Paul’s did in 2 Thessalonians. These signs will precede the return of the Lord. The Tribulation is one of the signs converging on our history which will announce His coming.
In the article Terry wants to appeal to Jesus’ words “as in the days of Noah” for his timing of this return, which he believes to be before the Tribulation; thus his belief that only some of the signs listed are to establish the timing. Yet he ignores a very significant bit of evidence concerning Noah’s day. Listen:
Then God said to Noah, “ The end of all flesh has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of them; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth. Genesis 6:13
Marrying and giving in marriage also was true of Noah’s day, as were many other things that Terry points out, but for true convergence to occur the Tribulation must come about. Just as Noah prepared in his day we need to suit up with the whole armor of God for the evil day does seem to be upon us through the converging of prophetic signs.
