It is Satanic:

This phenomenon goes well back in Church history, even before the Catholics and Protestants.

But in my lifetime it has continued on through men such as Merle F. Unger, who attempted to cancel out the Charismatic movement. Many of his followers declared the movement to be the work of the devil. The Charismatic’s dared to believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit to be an ongoing work of the Holy Spirit within todays Church. Hal Lindsey, Grant Jeffrery and others all placed the works of the Holy Spirit within a manufactured past age involving only the Apostles.

◦ This doctrine of ages coming from man within the church was necessary to allow for the dispensation of a final Church age. It would bring the Church to a place of Rapture, but at the same time it would ignore their own teaching of the eminent return of Christ. This age that they envision was to bring reality and meaning to the term “blessed hope” (so they told us) and to its existence only in the promised Rapture. This would “only” impact the Church during the final Philadelphia Church age. For it was this Church Philadelphia, who was made the promise that this Rapture would allow for the escape of the Church of this “Church age” and thus do it before the Great Tribulation that Jesus promised would lead to His return. That promise was made to the Philadelphia Church “age”. This would be the Church of the completed Bride, which could only exist just before His coming. To this Church it was stated:

◦ Revelation 3:10 ‘Because you have kept My word of perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of the testing, that [hour] which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who live on the earth. (NASB2020)

◦ But, as with the present cancel culture in our countries politics, there were problems with this Doctrine. For if the return of Christ is to be imminent before the Tribulation; then the return must be looked for before many of the signs spoken of by Jesus were to occur. It must be the only thing looked for. In fact the Church was to be in a constant watchfulness, always ready for Rapture; for we know not the day nor the hour of our Lord’s return; so the imminent coming somehow superseded all else. It after all was believed by the Apostles who taught the early Church of this Imminence in Our Lord’s coming. They were looking for the Rapture, so certainly we should be also.

◦ So, we can see a problem. One cannot hold to an imminent expectation of Christ’s appearing before the Tribulation signs take place, and also expect this imminent coming to await the progression of very different events which they say were prophesied within these Seven Churches each representing a Church age within the history of the church. In other words Church ages and imminence or the constant expectation of Christ’s coming cannot coexist.

◦ But if there are not seven distinct ages, but instead only one age, which will end with the signs of Jesus’ Coming; then imminence can exist as a Doctrine, but only as it is attached to the signs that we are told to look for, which will end this age with the coming of Jesus.

◦ Matthew 28:19 “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (NASB2020)

◦ So, if there is but one age that we are dealing with; then we are to be living in the power of the Holy Spirits gifting of His Church, and the cancellation of these giftings is seen to be based upon a disbelief of their being for us and for our time. It is this disbelief that Satan has used against us to weaken the Church. Even those believing in the gifts are weakened by this doubt brought into the Church by this cancel culture thinking.

So, I would ask you what if we were to believe God, and seek Him for the gifts needed to be an effective witness in our time upon this earth. Would that witness not allow us to defeat Satan.

Revelation 12:11 “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life [even] when faced with death. (NASB2020)

Truth will prevail even when it is cancelled from the world’s culture. Men of God know that the end of this life only leads them to a more glorious life. Living in belief without doubt yields a witness that causes men to take notice. It can even help others dispel their doubts. Now is the time to fill up, to train up, tho put on all of The armor offered us and to enter the battle.
