Revelation 12:1 A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars;

This sign of the woman is obviously a look back in time to the birth of Messiah. The woman obviously represents Israel, who brought forth her Messiah and ours; and her 12 tribes are represented in the 12 stars. The next verse confirms our analogy.

Revelation 12:2 and she was with child; and she cried out, being in labor and in pain to give birth.

At the time of the Messiah’s birth Israel was firmly under the thumb of Rome complete with a Roman Appointed king. She had all but lost sight of her messiah. And the world was desperately in need of God’s savior.

Revelation 12:3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: and behold, a great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads [were] seven diadems.

Interestingly earlier during Jesus earthly ministry after His disciples returned from being sent out to minister He proclaims: Luke 10:18 And He said to them, “I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning. (NASB1995)

There is no indication that this fall occurred at exactly that time, and in fact it may instead have happened much earlier. But one thing is certain when Satan fell he took 1/3 of the heavenly host with him. And he came out in wrath against Gods people, first against the woman Israel and then against her offspring those born anew through her seed Jesus, who are His own brethren; His church of the new birth.

Revelation 12:4 And his tail swept away a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she gave birth he might devour her child.

Satan poured out all that he had to offer against this Christ to destroy Him. First he slaughtered babies in Bethlehem; then there came temptation (to thwart Him) then He piled the burden of the sin of us all onto Him there in the Garden, and caused this Messiah to pray Father if it be thy will remove this cup; even as He sweat grate droplets of blood, and then in those moments confessed: “My soul is near to. Death”. Then Satan because of our sin nailed Him to a tree, and there thought that he had won, but He is risen.

Satan then transferred his wrath to destroy first the woman herself, and then Her offspring, he had failed with Jesus, but maybe he can destroy the nation of Israel, if not then the born again brethren.

Revelation 12:5 And she gave birth to a son, a male [child,] who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron; and her child was caught up to God and to His throne.

He is alive. He is victorious and Satan is defeated. But not until the head is crushed.

Revelation 12:6 Then the woman fled into the wilderness where she had a place prepared by God, so that there she would be nourished for one thousand two hundred and sixty days.

Israel has wondered throughout this world over these last 2 days (two Thousand years) while her offspring has conducted Spiritual warfare complete with failures and victories, but on the third day the woman with her offspring will be raised up.

Revelation 12:7

Isa speaks of this time:

Isaiah 49:16 I have engraved you on the palms of my hands. Your walls are always in my presence. 17 Your children will hurry back. Those who destroyed you and laid waste to you will leave you. 18 Look up, look around, and watch! All of your children are gathering together and returning to you. “I solemnly swear as I live,” declares the LORD, “you will wear all of them like jewels and display them on yourself as a bride would.” 19 Though you are destroyed and demolished and your land is in ruins, you will be too crowded for [your] people now. Those who devoured you will be long gone. 20 The children taken from you will say to you, “This place is too crowded for me. Make room for me to live here.” 21 Then you will ask yourself, “Who has fathered these [children] for me? I was childless and unable to have children. I was exiled and rejected. Who raised these [children for me]? I was left alone. Where have they come from?” (GOD’S WORD)

Immediately preceding this time our enemies were defeated:

And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon and his angels waged war,

Is this the fall that Jesus ultimately saw as recorded in Luke 10:18?

Revelation 12:8 and they were not strong enough, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven.

Certainly it is like unto it.

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

It would seem that this war is right now raging in the heavenlys and we are seeing the evidence of the fall itself on this earth as Satan is enraged.

Revelation 12:10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night.

The War is won in heaven but you Christ’s children on earth you must take up the battle.

Revelation 12:11 “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.

Our Father: Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Revelation 12:12 “For this reason, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has [only] a short time.”

And he who endures until the end shall be saved.

Revelation 12:13 And when the dragon saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male [child.]

Israel will be purged in this battle. She will lose 2/3’s of her nations people . Zechariah 13:9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God. (KJV)

Revelation 12:14 But the two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, so that she could fly into the wilderness to her place, where she was nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.

Our hope is that we believers in this the nation where the Eagles have soared in might, will overcome Satan and protect her by the blood of the Lamb during this time, for it is written.

Revelation 12:15 And the serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, so that he might cause her to be swept away with the flood.

He tried, but God provided.

Revelation 12:16 But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and drank up the river which the dragon poured out of his mouth.

His filth flowed after her, but we have made her jealous as Paul instructed in Romans 11.

Revelation 12:17 So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

It will not be long now before we see the further unfolding of these events. Hold fast my brothers.
