Hosea 3:4-5 – “For the Israelites will live many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred stones, without ephod or idol. Afterward the Israelites will return and seek the LORD their God and David their king. They will come trembling to the LORD and to his blessings in the last days.”

All of my life I have heard that Israel’s return was a sign of the last days. And indeed it is, so why is it that we have not yet seen the ending of this above prophetic verse?

Ezekiel 20:34 – “I will bring you from the nations and gather you from the countries where you have been scattered — with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with outpoured wrath.”

The last days are to include a period of time known as Jacobs trouble. It is also known as the Tribulation or Great Tribulation. This time will bring an end to these last days. The above verse says that they will be brought from the nations “with wrath poured out”. It is at the end of this Tribulation that we see Jesus return to deliver His final wrath with which He brings an end to this age. It seems that the Tribulation events are a trigger to the fulfillment of these prophecies.

The Apostle Paul says that there will be a point in our future when the final gentile to be saved will itself be a trigger which will bring all Israel to salvation.

Romans 11:25 For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery–so that you will not be wise in your own estimation–that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; 26 and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, “THE DELIVERER WILL COME FROM ZION, HE WILL REMOVE UNGODLINESS FROM JACOB.” (NASB1995)

The Tribulation will see these events leading to our salvation brought to fruition with the outpouring of God’s wrath it will be ended. This will likely occur in conjunction with the salvation of that very last Gentile. It is at that time that I believe we will likely see the rebirth of the Jewish Nation spiritually occurring in just one day.

Isaiah 66:8 “Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Can a land be born in one day? Can a nation be brought forth all at once? As soon as Zion travailed, she also brought forth her sons. (NASB1995)

Although Israel was in a sense born in one day on a specific day in 1948 with a UN resolution, still there was one part of this prophecy that is not completed. Israel in fact is still bringing forth her sons, but these sons have not yet come to believe in their Messiah.

The World Atlas lists the top 10 countries with Jewish population.

1 Israel 6,589,000

2 USA 5,700,000

3 France 465,000

4 Canada 385,000

5 UK 269,568

6 Russia 186,000

7 Argentina 181,300

8 Germany 99,635

9 Australia 112,500

10 Brazil 95,000

There are Israelites in other countries as well. This is why I believe that this above prophecy is speaking of the Spiritual birth of this nation in a day, and this event is still lacking.

Hosea 5:15 I will go away [and] return to My place Until they acknowledge their guilt and seek My face; In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me. (NASB1995)

Jesus is obviously here concerned with the Spiritual rebirth of His people, which comes to them at a time of their great affliction.

And Israel is obviously in this coming day returning to her Lord. but Paul goes further telling us just what her acceptance means for all of us His people:

Hosea 6:1 “Come, let us return to the LORD. For He has torn [us,] but He will heal us; He has wounded [us,] but He will bandage us. 2 “He will revive us after two days; He will raise us up on the third day, That we may live before Him. (NASB1995).

Romans 11:15 For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will [their] acceptance be but life from the dead? (NASB1995)
