What are the implications from the 5th Trumpet concerning who is present in the Tribulation?

Before we examine this Trumpet, I want to point out that the Pre-Wrath position has placed the Rapture after the opening of the seven seals and before the Trumpets. They see the Trumpets as representing God’s wrath. So what about the 5th Trumpet might give us reason to question this understanding?

The Fifth Trumpet

The fifth trumpet judgment is found in Rev. 9:1-12:

And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them….And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months. And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon. One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter.

First let’s consider the purpose of the Trumpet. It is to bring about circumstance that will inflict suffering but not death. And later God states, concerning the woes brought, “and they would not repent”. In case you did not notice: this trumpet is one of the woes, so God is about getting the attention of the world. How do we know that?

Second, God’s people with the seal of God are not to be touched by this woe. So there are two people groups present, and one of these already belongs to God. They are not effected by this woe. The woe itself is not God’s wrath. It does not destroy as does His wrath. It is a purposed release of Satanic power from the pit of hell to inflict hurt on that part of mankind, who are without God in their lives.

Thirdly, God is in control of what He allows to be accomplished; and on whom it will have its effect; and over what will not be harmed — the greenery of earth, and His people.

So a rapture prior to this is not a pre-Wrath rapture, it is pre-Trumpet, and it refutes a portion of God’s word, just as does the pre-Trib rapture. We the church are destined to endure tribulation, but not God’s wrath. Jesus begins inflicting wrath at the battle of Armageddon against the worlds armies who come against His people the Jews (Hos 5:15 and Isa 63:1-6*). His purpose is to add these back to their own olive tree where you and I already reside until He comes. Rapture does not remove us from the Olive tree. Only unbelief can remove us. Falling away from the faith is exactly what Jesus and Paul had warned us about.

Before I go to my forth point. I want to tell you that I am prepared for the current battle that is imminent in our country as God seems to be intervening with revival and hopefully within a defeat of a current evil in our government and our election system. The purpose of God when He enters history is to bring a turning from the world to His Son. Perhaps you have been listening, but now is the time to trust God for today. Get in food supplies if that makes you feel better, and gas for your vehicles. One way or the other he world is about to witness change. Now to my forth point:

who are God’s people (the sealed) of Revelation? For this answer see the following post:
