There is one important question, that I think is significant to the timing of the Rapture. We have seen in recent days what a planned and somewhat Chaotic mess looks like, but what of the uncontrolled Chaos caused when millions of people disappear across the globe?
So let’s consider what happens on earth when the pre-Trib Rapture takes place. Many are saying that it is this Rapture caused Chaos which causes the coming Tribulation. In fact there is no argument that these things will likely happen if a pre-Trib rapture were to occur. So we agree that if it’s pre-Trib, then when it will occur there certainly will be created more havoc than any of us could even speculate. The pre-Trib scholars as stated, consider this chaos to be necessary as a start up to the Tribulation. In other words it would chaotically trigger the Tribulation — so if this would be the case; then why is there no evidence anywhere in the prophetic scripture of this chaos either before or at the beginning of the Tribulation? And why instead is it that there is no evidence at the end either?
If you read the book of Revelation, from chapter 4:1, which is the supposed timing of the pre-Trib Rapture, there is no mention of chaotic happenings on earth until you reach chapter 6: vs 2. And the very first thing that happens on earth in this verse is the granting of power to the rider of the white horse. Then it is not until the second rider of the red horse is presented that peace is actually taken from the earth. Why was peace not already missing if the chaotic rapture had occurred prior? In these verses representing the beginnings of the Tribulation as the pre-Tribulationist’s believe it. For there then is no evidence of chaos from a rapture, because peace still remains until peace is then taken by the red horse rider. Yet, according to pre-Trib theology the Tribulation begins on earth with the white horse following the Rapture, and there is no explanation for the obvious peace remaining on the earth until the second rider comes. — Where then is the Chaos which admittedly must come from the pre-Trib Rapture if it does occur?
There is another piece to this pre-Trib Rapture puzzle. They tell us that the Tribulation actually begins the day of the Lord, which they know at least will include the millennium, but to which they add the 7 year Tribulation at its beginning. And even though as we have seen the Tribulation does not begin with destruction and chaos, what of the day of the Lord? Does it begin with anything resembling Chaos? For it is post-Tribulation teaching that the Tribulation is not part of the day of the Lord. So Listen:
1 Thessalonians 5:2 For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. 3 While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief; (NASB)
Here we see the day of the Lord begins with destruction unlike what we have seen concerning the beginning of Tribulation. Paul says that for the world there is destruction from which there is no escape when the day of the Lord comes as a thief. And we are here when this Day comes because it will not overtake us like a thief. So is this day the beginning of Tribulation? Is it begun with destruction for the world. We see this coming like a thief announced by our Lord in: Revelation 16:15 (“Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his clothes, so that he will not walk about naked and men will not see his shame.”) (NASB)
This announcement of the coming of this day means for the world that there is now no escape as Paul puts it, and Jesus announces it with the battle of Armageddon, which is the end of the Tribulation. So, when Armageddon is raging, what is the the cry of the people? We need more of this war, or peace and safety?
But, we must go back in our earlier reading in Revelation, to a time Line, which is seen by pre-Trib Theologians as being sequential, and where again in the early part of the Tribulation, we find this statement by an Angel in:
Revelation 7:3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. (KJV)
So here we see that nothing can have been done to harm the earth to begin the Tribulation, not until there is the sealing of God’s servants. Any chaos connected with the bringing about of the Tribulation would surely have been felt by all who would be on earth at this time — cars crashing; planes crashing; ships running into one another; homes and buildings burning from these crashes. But God’s servants must be sealed before any harm can come to earth. This is God’s command to the angel. And this sealing of God’s servants happens after Tribulation is under way. So did a rapture bring chaos, or was there even a rapture to bring in the Tribulation?
Also remember as an aside to what we are discussing, that it is the servants of God to whom this book of the Revelation is written, and it is members of this same servanthood who are being sealed:
Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: 2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. (KJV)
So these servants represent the ones to whom this book is written. They are represented in those living, at the time of this writing, who did read it, and they are also representatives of Gods people who are present on earth and who must be sealed within the time of the Tribulation. So all of this is recorded to occur in the future and takes place after the supposed pre-Trib rapture.
Here then is my challenge to the pre-Trib teachers — If there is in scripture a passage which speaks of Chaos to the extent that the Rapture must cause at the beginning of the Tribulation; then please reveal that to us, because it would be in complete contradiction to what we see here in the Revelation. Should you then find even one such scripture passage, please list it in the comments section of this post. Otherwise we will conclude that there has been none recorded, and if there is none; then there according to these verses cannot have been a rapture yet to have occurred. The Rapture is said in 1 Thess. 5, to come at a time when there is destruction from which there is no escape for the world. The Tribulation is not such a time. From it there is escape but that escape ends with the post-Trib Rapture, at the time of our Lords second coming, and accompanying it is destruction from the wrath of the Lamb.
If there is such a verse implying chaos at the time of pre-Trib Rapture; then we would need to conclude tribulation to be included at the beginning of the Day of the Lord. But when that chaos is actually to occur must be consistent with Revelation’s teaching concerning the end of Tribulation, and not at its beginning; because chaos is not at the beginning of the Tribulation as we have seen here, but is it at the end that this destruction will infringe on the earth? This would be at the same time of the post Tribulation Rapture. But even this destruction is not from the Rapture -Why? Likely Christians who are left are not out driving and flying at this time, and there is little interaction by this time with the world, for we are to come out from among them.
Think hard about this my brethren, for God gave you a mind to think. He gives us the mind of Christ, if we will but receive it.
If there is no Rapture to begin Tribulation; then there is only left the Spiritual chaos that will result from Man’s miss-Teaching of the Rapture’s timing, and any untruth will be a cause of the prophesied falling away, about which Jesus warmed us.
Matthew 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. (KJV)
Matthew 24:10 “At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another. (NASB)
We must hear what the Spirit is saying to us through His word. Listen to His points:
-Elijah will come before the great and terrible day of the Lord. Your teachers tell you this happens during this day.
-the sun moon and stars will not be shining before this day comes. Jesus tells you this happens before His coming to earth and after the Tribulation.
-Paul tells you Antichrist is revealed before this day; your teachers tell you this happens during this day (1 Thess ch 4&5; 2 Thess 2). Is it before or during?
Paul tells that life from the dead occurs for us after Israel’s salvation (ROM 11:15); your teachers tell you this happens during this day, and that your life from the dead has already taken place.
Spiritual Chaos will occur on earth as the Tribulation progresses due to deception. The battle for the minds of men will be Chaotic, and will be revealed to have begun much before this time. Jesus says that these days must be shortened for this very reason. That if not, then even you His elect might be deceived.
