“That night I woke up in the middle of the night with chills, vomiting, and shortness of breath. By Monday, I could barely speak more than a few words without feeling like I was gasping for air. I couldn’t walk to the bathroom without panting as if I’d run a mile. On Monday evening, I tried to eat, but found I couldn’t get enough oxygen while doing so. Any task that was at all anxiety-producing — even resetting my MyChart password to communicate with my doctor — left me desperate for oxygen.”

This from a 26 year old, Fiona Lowenstein.

“A Welshman who caught the coronavirus in China has described how the deadly disease hit him “like a train” leaving him “suffocating” and in blinding pain for weeks.

Connor Reed, from Llandudno, got ill while working as an English teacher in Wuhan.

The 25-year-old described how it started as “just a sniffle” on November 25 – a month before authorities officially announced the virus – but over the next three-and-a-half weeks he got increasingly ill and was unable to move.” These articles promote fear.

THE PURPOSE OF FEAR

What is the purpose of fear? God’s word says that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. We know that Godly fear ultimately leads to an intimate relationship and walk with our creator, Jesus the Messiah. So what is the purpose of fearing Coronavirus? In one word it is — Wisdom.

You and I as Christians are to turn to God when anything presents within our circumstance as fear. We are not to fear if we are hidden in Christ. The thing about this virus is that it is unseen and therefore the fear of it must be turned to action against it. But what action?

We have another unseen enemy. Paul speaks of the actions that we are to take against him in Ephesians chapter six. I had written several posts in the past each one concerning a piece of the armor Paul tells us that we need to employ in our fight against him.

This unseen virus is no different. It cannot be defeated or turned away from you personally or from your family if met in fear. Fear is meant to turn you to action against this enemy. You can do the things that the CDC is telling you to do, and you should, but there is a greater power at work in you if you belong to Christ. The Holy Spirit has gifted you with the shield of faith, exercise it. In Christ Jesus, no weapon formed against you will prosper. You must fight every battle presented to you in this life, but don’t enter the battle without your Armor.

If you are not in Christ, you have a Bible. Pick it up and read John’s Gospel in the New Testament. Then call upon this Jesus who loves you, and ask Him to forgive you and to give you this new life in Him that will fill you with the power to exercise the gifts that He will bestow upon you. Jesus said, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you. — Then come back and here in the comments section let us know by your testimony what this new relationship with Christ has done for you.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
