When initially thinking about this question we might think yes, I believe deception is easy to spot.

Why then do you think that very many of the laws of our land are there to stop our fellow man from taking advantage of us? So then does this principal apply to the deceivers that we hear about in scripture? Not really, because within the church we have no police force or lawmakers ruling over the church. But you say is that not God’s domain? Yes, but in essence He has turned it over to mankind to figure it all out.

But, you say isn’t that dangerous? Absolutely! But, He has given us tools. How so, you say.

We were given Jesus/salvation, prophets, Apostles, teachers, the scriptures, and the Holy Spirit. We were given an intermediary and prayer to reach the Father through Him. So why then is there deception? Well obviously there can’t be. Well obviously there is.

So why does God allow deception? A very good question. It seems that you would lose interest were it not so. How is that? Well Jesus taught that truth is worth finding. It holds its value due to the search. If you could go out and pick it off the street with no effort, then every Tom, Dick and Harry would be peddlers of it. And it’s value would be rather than like gold more like a penny.

True. Is it, because we hear that salvation is easy to obtain, and simple to understand, and easy to hold on to. So, is that truth or is that deception?

Do you know why Jesus paid such a great price for you? Can you easily accept something that you know so little of? Are you willing to risk deception, in place Of finding out God’s truth for yourself? Have we been deceived as to what the Gospel is?

I will quote to you one passage and then ask you some questions concerning it.

Acts 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Acts 20:25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.

Acts 20:26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.

Acts 20:27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Acts 20:29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

Acts 20:30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

Acts 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

Acts 20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. (KJV)

In this passage we learn that Paul received a ministry to testify to the gospel of grace, do you know what that entails? Why is it that it is able to give you an inheritance rather than having already given you an inheritance as a believer? His preaching of the kingdom of God is that part of it? What about the “all the council of God? Does the Holy Spirit choosing of leadership have anything to do with it? Does doing battle with deception vss 29&30 have anything to do with it. Does sanctification have anything to do with it? Does spending 3 years teaching and praying with and weeping over and warning have anything to do with it? Paul actually elsewhere tells us that He spent three years in Egypt learning his gospel from God, not from man.

Is the truth really so simple that it should be given over to others to glean for us, when we know that there are wolves seeking to deceive us? If the wolves are there will the Scriptures not reveal them to us, but surly not especially if we do not search the scripture to be sure. And thus we return why has God allowed deceivers? So that we will search out His Truth, His Word. Jesus is the word of God.
