Thanks Margaret, for reminding me of this verse. It links salvation to doctrine — an almost unheard of concept in today’s church.
Remember doctrine is supposed to be truth. Salvation can only come through knowing the truth. Salvation is expressed in scripture as being past, present and future. We start with truth, we continue in truth and we end with truth. Or else we end wrong. Jesus is the truth.

I like the King James better, to me it is a bit clearer.

Clarity obviously is important. I often read several versions, but KJV is always good.

You have been posting some good, usable articles Jerry. In particular, this one and the last one you posted speaks to me about a situation that I’ve encountered recently.
I praise God for these truths.

Lee, thanks much for sharing that brother. I am finding that Truth is sometimes hard, but when we consider it is the truth that is freeing us from our bondage. And who is the truth really — Jesus. And couple that with the fact that all truth (at least the truth that matters) is contained in and we are to find it in the Word (Jesus is also the Word); then we can understand that this search for truth is building for us an ongoing relationship with our creator.

Thank you Jerry for sharing :):) Reading the comments, I’ll add, I only read the King James Bible. I didn’t understand it at first, and there are verses I still don’t understand but I feel God reveals the meanings to me when He knows I am ready, willing and able to understand them. Just like I wasn’t born walking, talking and able to digest solid food, I wasn’t born again walking, talking, or able to digest all the solid nourishment in the Bible. Having said that, I feel, everyone should read the Bible they feel God wants them to read.

Your progressing well. God has much work to do on each of us. And your approach to learning is great. With God The Bible is always our best teacher.

I agree. When I first got saved, I wanted to learn it all, right now. I wanted to gobble up every word, AND understand it, right now. God helped me see, in His time not mine. That I’m not capable of learning ALL the lessons in the Bible in one sitting. He is good to me, and reveals more, and more to me, each reading.
