To those of you who read my posts, I’m going to do something that we probably find offensive and difficult to do. I’m about to be critical of another blogger who I believe is a Christian, and who I believe is sincere in his own way, but who obviously is either very insecure and incapable of defending his position with scripture or else he himself is a deceiver, deceived and being deceived. Frankly I don’t know which but the Lord does. His post and comments are here: I’d really like your thoughts on this.
Prophecy Line
by Terry James
When that funny, irritating noise coming from your TV set goes off, what is your reaction? I’m talking about that grating…
you can read the balance of the article on his site. The point of his article was to make it clear that many Christians have erroneous beliefs concerning prophecy, and are ignoring the signs of Jesus return. But it’s to the comments section of this post that I want to draw your attention. I’m posting the before and after comments for context before the comments that I really want to discuss. I do this so that you can verify this on his site, because I think you will find it interesting.

Terry, I once read a Tim LaHaye book where he stated that these different beliefs on the Second Coming are not cardinal doctrine to ones salvation. So my question is — that being the case will not even the misinformed believer in Christ be Raptured? Even those who don’t believe in the Rapture? Even those who don’t teach the truth? Even those who twist the scriptures? Even those who teach that Israel has been replaced by the Church? Of course they must be in Christ in order for this to be as Tim implied it. But I just wondered what your thinking was on this?

If these, who have either through misinterpretation of scripture or in some other way done what you mention here, know Christ for Salvation, they are in God’s Family. They are Saved forever. They will, each and every one, go to be with their Savior in the Rapture when Christ Calls the Church to Himself.

Terry, your thoughts seem to agree with Tim. I would also like your thoughts then on two passages that taken together concern me when I consider this Subject. I have listed them here, perhaps you can comment on them:
Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
•2 Peter 3:13-16 KJV. And then there is:
Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
•James 5:19-20 KJV
•THIS POST WAS REMOVED FROM THE SITE WITHOUT AN ANSWER. IT DID NOT MAKE IT THROUGH MODERATION. Does anyone think that they may know why?
THE FOLLOWING POST I COPIED SO THAT IF ANYONE WANTS TO GO TO HIS SITE TO CONFIRM THIS, THEY CAN SEE WHERE THIS ALL FITS IN. Below this comment are my thoughts on why Terry deleted this question and these scriptures.

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS ON WHY MY LAST POST WHICH WAS MOSTLY SCRIPTURE WAS DELETED? Is there something to learn here?
•After you consider all this perhaps you may want to comment on my thoughts that I’m now going to expound on. If you read the two passages of scripture that Terry deleted along with my question you will see that Peter is speaking of last days or prophetic events. And interestingly he brings Paul’s teachings on these end time events into his discussion. And he says that there are people who are unstable and unlearned who twist or wrest these Scriptures just like they do other Scripture. And they do this to there own destruction.
This prophecy stuff must be important to God if a man’s destruction from God is at stake?
No one today teaches that men who don’t properly understand prophecy are twisting it to their own destruction. And what does that mean? This is why I included the second verse in James. It too speaks of similar things.
James is talking to brethren listen: “Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth,”. He tells us that erring from the truth has consequences. What are they?
If those who err don’t convert from their error, apparently their soul will die. Read it. So what we believe and teach is very important to God. Even what we believe about prophecy. We certainly should not teach something that we do not yet fully understand. Yet the first answer by Terry, to my first question above, is completely contradicted by these two bible verses — are they truth?
listen to what John was told in the Revelation:
And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
Revelation 19:10 KJV
And again in Revelation we read:
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
Revelation 22:19 KJV. Prophecy is truth. Jesus is it’s Spirit. It is important.
You see if Terry would have posted my second question and attempted an answer — it would have been understood by his readers that he opposes the Scripture concerning this issue. The normal answer to James’ admonition is that physical not spiritual death is what this verse speaks about. This being the case then would not those who misinterpret this verse all be dead before their time? Now consider that both Terry James and I are around the same age in our mid 70’s. If physical death were the meaning here would not one of us be dead, and that before the age of 70?
So is Terry being honest when handling the word of God or is he deceiving himself and others? You be the judge and please post your comments below. By their fruit you shall know them. My attempt when engaging a brother like Terry is for the purpose of making him, and especially his readers think and hopefully turning someone back to the truth of Scripture. His purpose is obviously not the same when dealing with me if he thinks that I’m in error. But again you be the judge, ultimately God will be the judge. Thanks for any and all input.
Hi and good mornin Jerry!
I love you dear friend, and you’re a brother that I really sympathize with.
(Oh before I forget, that isn’t the same Terry that I was referencing in a discussion we had previously).
I’m not going to give you the advice that you’re asking for. Because I don’t know if God is directing your words to this man or not, so I’m going to remain silent about the content of y’all’s discussion.
But I will say this.
I’ve learned from my own endeavors that debate and such is not good, (irrespective of the topic). Either for my own peace, or for those who were exposed to my wrangling.
We as people sometimes have so much of our identity invested into our doctrine, that to change course would be to admit that we have been wrong, and some of us can’t bear the public humiliation of facing that.
So I can only recommend in general terms about the macro landscape.
Always try to be loving, avoid debate, make your point, and move on if the person isn’t in sync with you.
It’s up to God to do the work in a person.
Don’t give someone influence over your peace Jerry.
God bless you, and I love you dear brother. ☺

Lee , what you say is good advice, and I’m not trying to justify my attempts to post on terry’s blog, but as you can see from just the two comments, there is his influence on other sheep that our words and approach may be able to impact — just cause them to think. I totally agree with you that Terry Himself is completely wed to his own doctrine. If you look at his site he has written many books. He has a large influence. I believe that God’s purpose for me is just to try to get people to do some thinking for themselves. I believe that most of the brethren that you and I Blog with are in that same mold, including yourself. I don’t know about you but I don’t delete any comment to my site. If we are open and teachable then God will sometimes send us something hard to sharpen us. I don’t think Terry is teachable, but his followers may be? He probably has blocked me totally now, so I did fail in any influence that God may have wanted me to have there. But thanks much for your comment.

I think stalking a blogger, especially someone with a much greater following than yourself, and characterizing that blogger as “very insecure and incapable of defending his position with scripture or else he himself is a deceiver, deceived and being deceived,” is a pretty disgusting thing for a Christian to post on his public blog about a brother (which you acknowledge before you openly smear him).
Has it occurred to you, sir, that this man you malign does not post your repetitive and frequent comments because you come across as argumentative, defensive, and frankly–full of yourself, spiritually prideful?
Terry James has no obligation to post your frequent comments to his personal blog. The purpose of his blog is to educate and edify those who voluntarily follow him–not to elevate your dissent and publicly debate you. Although–I assure you–if he were so willing, he would hand you your hat, politely of course.
Respectfully, from the one who manages his blog, and the one who blocks your combative comments (with his full knowledge), please refrain from doing so again. You have your own blog from which you can express your views.
In Christian Love,
Mariah

Mariah, one other thing brother before we leave our discussion, if my attempts to post my comments on Terry’s site are argumentative and defensive, then one would think that Terry might want to use those as teaching moments for his readers. Or at least he might want to follow the James 5 admonition to help me if he thinks me to be misrepresenting scripture. And I would also think that Terry might want to help me with some council to at least correct my spiritual pride if that is what is coming across. At least he might want to try to get to know me to assess that for himself. And if I was repetitive with a thought you might want to ask if that might not be because you never allow that particular point to be made when you block it each time. And you also might want to consider why it is that you don’t want to consider exploring the Scriptural basis for a post-Trib as well as a pre-Trib view especially if you truly think this not to be a cardinal doctrine of the church. And that may not even be your position because frankly we have not had the opportunity to discuss your position on that point.
So in closing I do apologize for stating Terry to be incapable and insecure — I just surmised that because of his seeming unwillingness to engage in a discussion of the Scriptural differences between us. As for the deceiver statement again I apologize, but you must admit that the appearance is again there simply because he is unwilling to discuss the scriptures seemingly opposing him.
As for your “disgusting” comment concerning these statements about a brother, I really do agree this entire situation takes on a disgusting flavor, when two believers cant come together and at least attempt to seek some agreement as to what is fact based on the Word and what is speculation. So again feel free to post here any time. I’m open to your criticism.

Mariah, I thought Terry had someone following me. Thanks for the kind words brother. Thanks for posting your views. You’re welcome back anytime. And feel free to express, debate etc. here. I’d love, by the way, to see you post here the literal scriptures with which you support the pre-Trib understanding on the Rapture. Please feel free to do that anytime. I’d be happy and willing to offer you that space. By the way I liked your first post. The one before this one. You need to build on that if you would. Keep the faith brother.

First of all, I am not your ‘brother.’ Mariah is a well known female name. Are you intentionally disrespecting me? Are you a ‘gender bender?’
As far as ‘teaching moments’ go…you might do better as a listening student, sir.
Terry James is 75 years old, a student of Scripture since childhood, and a serious one at that. A true scholar, who is associated with many respected men of God. Many more knowledgeable than yourself, if I might say so.
Perhaps that is why he has so many more followers than you do on your blog, has published over 30 books–hundreds of thousands of copies that have sold worldwide. And, is the general editor of the number one Bible prophecy website on the Internet–RaptureReady.com.
Your assumption that he was following you is utterly incorrect, and quite self-serving. I have no idea where you gleaned that idea.
Thank you for your invitation to post on your blog, but that does not interest me. My only reason in corresponding with you today, is to ask you, respectfully, to stop stalking our blog. You will not be elevated there, nor will you find your much sought after fame in trying to take on true scholars.
I pray you get back into the Word, and that the Lord will reveal His truth to you.
I feel sorry for you, as I watch you live your life as a defeated Christian, believing that you can lose your salvation at any moment, and we will not give you a platform to spread that false teaching on our blog.
Are we clear?
YSIC,
Mariah

Mariah, I detect a great deal of anger in your demeanor. I respect your fervent desire to protect the truth of Scripture. I too am 75 years of age on the Jewish calendar. I too am a student of scripture since a child, although I did not give my life to the Lord until I was in my mid Twenties. But I have sought God all my life until He adopted me. Sorry for the mistake on your name mam, but I truly did not know your gender as they say today. You really do not know me Mariah, but you have posted on my site before — the reason I felt you to be watching. As to my relationship with my Lord Yeshua I believe it to be secure in the Lords hand. You seem to think that many followers make a man of God. I do not seek followers, but neither do I turn one down who is searching for biblical truth, in which case I would be pointing them to The Christ who is the word of God for following.
As for losing ones salvation Paul says that one who has been cut from the Olive tree is only cut off for unbelief. That is true past present and future; and the falling away will result in that same happening before our Lord returns. You have God in a dispensational box and he does not reside in your box alone. He seeks those with a contrite heart and spirit to serve Him. I don’t know your heart and spirit, and you don’t know mine.
As to books written, I have only written two in my long but short lifetime. Everything that the Holy Spirit has taught me has gone into that effort. My view is not popular but then Jesus in His word and in my spirit by His Spirit has told me that it would not be. Perhaps before you disrespect me you should get to know me you can do that best from my book. I will be happy Mariah to send you one free. I do not seek fame and fortune or recognition. I merely seek to have people with a free will to consider what the Scriptures say to us as believers. I’d be happy to send a book to your business address. But only if you want it. I’m not seeking your personal address. I am not a stalker as you may think. You need not feel sorry for me. I am your brother in this spiritual battle, for the preservation of Truth. He is The truth. We should respect Him more in that regard. And remember even though you are upset with me, you may be here by divine appointment. Only God knows.
I will respect your wishes and stop following Terry if this is what you like. But know this I don’t disagree with him on much of what he says concerning our times, but unfortunately he is so biased concerning his theology that he often misses out on what the Scripture is teaching. Being teachable I find in Scripture to be a most desirable asset for a man of God. Thanks for your visit Mariah.
