We are going to look closely at the elements of the day of the Lord.  This day has attached to it fingerprints that tell what the day is relative to the Lord’s coming. 

Isaiah 2:10  Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty.  (See Rev. 6:15).  11  The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.  (This day therefore cannot be the Tribulation as is taught by Dispensationalists; for Antichrist is exalted in that day). 12  For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: (This day will see the judgment of every haughty person). 13  And upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan,  14  And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up,  (the judgment will be total). 15  And upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall,  16  And upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures. 17  And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. ( a reemphasis: Antichrist and His followers no longer exalted, but made low.) (KJV)

The day comes with God’s wrath not Satan’s, as does the Tribulation. 

Isaiah 13:9  Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. (KJV). 

The day destroys sinners.  1 Thess. 5 tells us the same concerning this day.  Read it. 

Jeremiah 46:10  For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: for the Lord GOD of hosts hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates. (KJV)

His vengeance is undertaken following His gathering of Armageddon’s armies. 

No evil will escape this His day:

Lamentations 2:22  Thou hast called as in a solemn day my terrors round about, so that in the day of the LORD’S anger none escaped nor remained: those that I have swaddled and brought up hath mine enemy consumed. (KJV)

Joel tells us that multitudes are in the valley of decision and the Day is near when the Sun Moon and Stars lose their shining. 

Joel 3:14  Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.  15  The sun and moon have become dark, And the stars have lost their brightness. (NASB2020)

This is also how Jesus described the days before His coming in Matt 24. For then just preceding His coming the sun moon and stars will cease to shine.  It will be a period of darkness over the face of the earth. It will appear as night, and not as day anywhere, when He comes as a thief in the night (Sudden and w/o warning for those who know Him not).

1 Thessalonians 4:13  But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers [and sisters,] about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as indeed the rest [of mankind do,] who have no hope.

1 Thessalonians 4:14  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose [from the dead,] so also God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus. (NASB2020)

1 Thessalonians 5:1  Now as to the periods and times, brothers [and sisters,] you have no need [of anything] to be written to you.

1 Thessalonians 5:2  For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord is coming just like a thief in the night.

1 Thessalonians 5:3  While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction will come upon them like labor pains upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. (NASB2020)

Before all this you will see the signs as well as the sign spoken of in Matthew 24.  Are you watching?  Are you ready?
