It’s true that we are seeing an anomaly in our skies over many places, and that this phenomenon is spreading around the earth. But what is also amazing is the fact that officials are unable to know what is occurring; or else they are responsible for at least part of the overhead display, and are just not talking.
So I begin with this understanding of where we are currently, and I ask you to think on this — knowing what we actually do know from God’s word.
2 Thessalonians 2:9 The arrival of the lawless one will be by Satan’s working with all kinds of miracles and signs and false wonders, 10 and with every kind of evil deception directed against those who are perishing, because they found no place in their hearts for the truth so as to be saved. 11 Consequently God sends on them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false. 12 And so all of them who have not believed the truth but have delighted in evil will be condemned. 13 But we ought to thank God always for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. (NET)
So, what we know to be truth for today is this: first all things called drones are not explainable. Second, folks who video these unknown objects almost always use the “f” bomb as they ask us what these things are. These folks for whom Christ died and to whom the gospel has been made abundantly clear seem to have no clue as to what is coming, or what is written here. They post from both this country and throughout much of the world. So, have they been set up for these days by Hollywood, and by Hollywood’s gods?
But, here is my point. If the signs which are told us from God that are to be for this last generation are now presenting, as we have been expecting and so we have no problem believing; then certainly the signs that are to come from Satan are also to be presenting. So, when they come, they are for the setting of the stage for Satan’s planned answer to the person of Jesus and to God’s truth. So these orbs: are they man made? It is told us that when these signs come that they will come in the form of lies, deception and debauchery.
And even the Church is told by Jesus that we must be awake in those times:
Matthew 24:43 “But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. 44 “For this reason you must be ready as well; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think [He will.] (NASB2020)
If we think that Jesus did not know the debate that would be taking place in these our days within the Church over the timing of His return; then we are naïve. We are asked to be awake concerning this time and the things that would occur leading to that moment.
Jesus’ use here, of the thief breaking in, is often taught to mean His own coming as a thief. But how He uses this term in this passage is interesting. For no believer would think of Jesus’ coming to be the event that we would need to be protecting ourselves from. This breaking into our house is an event that needs our attention, and it seems to be a warning of a thief’s coming to do our household harm. There is only one such thief that Jesus warned us of elsewhere in scripture. This thief comes to rob, steal and destroy and that thief here in this passage seems to be placed before Jesus own coming. A coming that He makes clear to be at an hour that most of us, unless truly awake, may think is just not to be His time.
Who are those who may expect a different timing? The reformed theology group, which has grown in recent years, are still expecting and prophesying an extended period of peace time (a millennium) before Jesus’ return. On the other hand the dispensationalist, as a group, are expecting Jesus in a secrete coming, before this time that Jesus is warning us of in these verses. So if we are in the last days many are, in fact, not awake and likely will not be when this thief breaks in upon our time in the history of this earth.
What then is our duty to these. If you are awake; then you are on the wall, and likely you are there for a reason. You are the watchman called to warn your people of what you see that they cannot see; for they are not placed as watchmen on the wall, as are you.
Be wise as the serpent but as harmless as the dove as you ponder our times, and speak to others of them.
