We all have friends or acquaintances, who are not believers. The only way that we can know that is to have that conversation. We have had that conversation, and right now I’m reading his book (a novel) concerning his life experiences. Where, as a boy he was confronted with racial tension; as a young man it was with special opps fighting in Vietnam; the as a CIA operative? I’m not quite far enough along to be sure, so, I will stop there. This man I know to have read the Bible, as he put it two to three times through. He will remain somewhat anonymous for my purpose here. We will just call him Taz.
Some of you may have read his book. All of you should, but I’ll not ask you to do that in this post, because I’m not quite ready to divulge him or the title. If you know; then you know what I’m saying and why. All of this even though I am asking you to do something for him.
I’ve not done a thing exactly like this before, but as I just read his chapter titled (Why Me?), all of what I’ve just stated here and more, hit me, as I believe a challenge to us from the Holy Spirit. This chapters title (Why Me), has meaning only if there is an answer given. In this chapter his life was spared, but not without the remnant of headaches to this day. You and I know that only God can truly answer his question, even if he may think that he has the answer, which he may: I don’t know yet. But he knows that he still has headaches. This is I believe: why I am to ask you to pray with me that God will stop his headaches instantly and noticeably for him. I believe that God may want to answer his question through our prayer. Here is how:
I intend to go to him, after finishing his book, and ask him two questions. One, did you ever get an answer to your question: Why Me? And two, have you noticed a change in your headaches?
I will write you in the future just how this turns out, along with the name of the book. The reviews on it are great. Some of you have read this book already, so, you know the story, I’m sure you appreciate and love the man even as we do, and want the best for him.
God, in your Son’s name, we ask that you are in this prayer of ours for Taz. You know who he is and what he needs even before we ask. Thanks for giving us the concern that you do for others. We love you. Father heal his headaches. Thank you.
Where are you leading us in this Father? I really don’t know, but I’m excited to be part of it, whatever it is.
