Evangelicals have endorsed Jesus as our “only savior”, pretty good right, but then some of these distort the why we can’t vote for the Republican candidate because he apparently is worshiped as a “savior”?

Their signed Statement contains the following:

“We reject the false teaching that anyone other than Jesus Christ has been anointed by God as our Savior, or that a Christian’s loyalty should belong to any political party. We reject any message that promotes devotion to a human leader or that wraps divine worship around partisanship.”

I need to see the proof of that allegation. No Christian can call anyone else savior, nor worship anyone else but the triune God.  But, God has historically used men to save nations; sometimes from themselves; by calling that nation to return to righteousness. He did this with Jonah at Nineva. He often used Kings in Israel to return Israel to such.

That in no way is the worship of these men as “ones savior”.

They state under #two:

“We reject the stoking of fears and the use of threats as an illegitimate form of godly motivation, and we repudiate the use of violence to achieve political goals as incongruent with the way of Christ.”

Well said.  They state under Three:

“We reject the misuse of holy Scripture to sanction a single political agenda, provoke hatred, or sow social divisions, and we believe that using God’s name to promote misinformation or lies for personal or political gain is bearing his name in vain (Exodus 20:7).”

Please let us give examples of what you are against in this regard, because lies are flowing more so in one particular direction. But the use of scripture is used to call all men and both parties voters to scriptures righteousness, even though it may just be true of one party.

“Likewise, to lie about others, including political opponents, is a sin (Exodus 20:16). Therefore, we commit to speaking the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15)”

Absolutely, let’s do it. But again lies are flowing and more so in one direction. But are you saying then: we should not vote? Every politician is accused of lies.

Their fourth statement obviously has not ever been achieved. They leave out one crucial point of the Gospel:

“FOUR: We believe the Gospel heals every worldly division.”

This in order to be true needs to say:

The Gospel (when believed and embraced by all then) heals…

Because, Worldly divisions are just that “worldly”, the Gospel itself has never healed worldly divisions, and prophetically speaking never will: not in this age of mortal humanity. And to stand firm for the gospel message of righteousness through Jesus our savior is itself divisive.   Jesus stated that He did not come to bring peace but a sword or conflict. His word cuts and divides not physically but Spiritually.

Matthew 10:34  “Don’t think that I came to bring peace to earth. I didn’t come to bring peace but conflict. (GOD’S WORD)

Section 7

“We reject the lie that a leader’s power, popularity, or political effectiveness is confirmation of God’s favor, or that Christians are permitted to ignore the teachings of Christ to protect themselves with worldly power.”

One article referencing this document is included in the Christian Post and I quote from their article:

“Several signatories, including Moore, Claiborne and Ekemini Uwan of the advocacy group Evangelicals for Harris, have expressed outspoken opposition to former President Donald Trump and the support he has received within the Evangelical community.”

That’s interesting because Uwan states:

“”This document is not aimed at anyone,” he told CP. “This document is a call to put Christ first in all our public engagement.”

So, my question would be why did he sign the document and then do something else’s which would technically be in opposition to it.  Both his open endorsement of Harris and his criticism of, especially evangelical Trump supporters, who did not sign the document, would be in opposition to the document content, which he did sign.

Signing a document like this is dangerous. It is like unto taking an oath.

Telling the truth in love will sometimes if not always have the potential to as Christ says: not bring peace but a sword.

Our News media once held all politicians to the truth, but no more.  And neither do all pastors.  And thus we are often left on our own to ferret out the truth.
