Our concern actually should not be as much about the world around us as it is about the church that is in the world around us.
The Church is not in and of the world. When the world turns against God’s truth, the church ( notice small c church ) has turned with it. Israel in Jesus day did the same. But out of Israel came the Messiah and His followers, and the Church was formed a separate body that was immediately attacked by the world from which it came, from which it was delivered Spiritually.
That Church was attacked physically, and it was asked by God to stand Spiritually no matter what was brought against it physically or spiritually. The Church was born out of persecution and it according to the Bible will be completed in a time of persecution.
Our purpose is not the winning of the world, but the rescuing of a people for God out of this world which hates God’s ways, God’s Messiah and His people.
As in the days of Noah and Lot God will again send His Son the Messiah to rescue His people, and He says: “Will there be faith found on earth when I come”.
Why did He say this? Will it be because of Rapture, or will it be because His people who stood against this world have been mostly killed by a world which hates their Messiah.
