I tend to save stuff that has been written to me that is meaningful, and as well I do the same with stuff that I write to others that comes from my heart. And though it is true, I can’t know how I am received unless the recipient of my written message actually tells me; still I must believe that what I tell others is loving, if when I say it, it is meant for their own good.
I have this friend, who to this very day is not a Christ follower in the truest sense, meaning he is not committed to follow Christ Jesus as his only savior come down from the God who created him, in order that he might be one of His sons.
I sent this to xxx (name not important for this post) on 4-18-13. We had talked prior to this on several occasions about Jesus.
“To: xxx
Christians are disputatious — the word Christian is used in the NT only 3 times.
Jesus calls us disciples not Christian. The world around called us Christian. [today] Christians are deservedly an infamous group. Whether good or bad can be debated, but A Roman Emperor Constantine declared the Roman World to be Christian. No man can declare you or me to be a disciple of Jesus. If we do not make that connection for ourselves we are not His. I can and do love you Xxx even though you have not made that connection, but if you do not make that connection in this life, then when we are both dead and gone, the only time I will see you again will be at the Judgment. If I really love you I will demonstrate that love by making sure that you understand this, if my love is just for appearances then I will not do anything that would possibly offend, even though I know that to do so will cost you greatly. My prayer for you Xxx is that you will hear God’s call and yield to His claim on your life.”
Why am I sharing this? Hopefully to help some who think me to be hateful in my posts to rethink their own position as to what is the real meaning of love.
