This subject is an issue for us to consider today. On the one hand the more liberal church sees open borders and immigration as the right thing for Christians to support; while the right is more associated with nations and borders and only legal immigrants.
The left appeals to the Christian’s love for the poor. And that is a valid scriptural undertaking. I’m not denying our duty to the widows and orphans. Immigrants however today is too often young healthy males. For years Ellen and I have supported christian orphanages in foreign lands. This call to the believer is a valid one. But that concern has not relieved me of of my ability to see in scripture the continuing need to have governments, or nations with laws and borders. Without these things men are advocating for a World with laws of man’s choosing over God’s plan for the nations. Back in Nimrod’s time the world became as one, and God’s Word says concerning this:
Genesis 11:6 The LORD said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them.
Genesis 11:7 “Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, so that they will not understand one another’s speech.”
Genesis 11:8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of the whole earth; and they stopped building the city. (NASB1995)
God founded the nations within His own purpose. It appears that the world’s people coming together in communication as well as in actions as we are witnessing today was not a good thing in God’s mind then, and I doubt that it is good now.
Yet, today our world is once again coming together especially in its ability to communicate and is certainly doing so within its elite upper income business leadership class (the WEF). And again we are seeing a move away from nations and borders as it was in Nimrod’s day. We are seeing nations attempting to unite with treaty’s and in the one organization (the UN). So is this a good thing? What we know from prophetic scripture is that the total uniting of borderless nations will not succeed, because in the end when Jesus returns He will judge not only individuals, but they will come from the nations plural.
Matthew 25:31 “But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne.
Matthew 25:32 “All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; (NASB1995)
In other places in scripture we see that at the end of time as we know it, (just before the above judgment) that the armies of nations will be gathered to Armageddon. So nations will not cease to exist on earth. No matter how much men want a one world governance, it will not happen in total. Even the prophesied Antichrist system, will have an advocacy (though a weakened line) from other nations.
So what purpose does our own open border serve at this time? There is no way that we as a nation can possibly take in all of the poor and or needy of this world and make them whole. We can’t and don’t even provide adequately for our own needy. No there is a different motivation behind open borders. Democrats may think that they may entice more voters, but they really don’t need them. They have proven that they could care less about the voter, they can win election without us. There are many reasons for that. Cheating being only one of those reasons.
◦ So, what is really happening with open borders, is the degradation and providing of a pathway to a further demise of what was once a great nation, but a nation that is now a thorn in the side of those who do really want control of the world. The fact that they will not succeed is unknown to them. They are not biblically oriented, but rather they are worldly in their motivations.
So what else is happening? We are right now living near the end, according to the scriptural understanding found in the signs that Jesus gave us which would allow us to understand the times in which we live. Jerusalem is now the cup of reeling spoken of in Scripture. Nations at the UN are united against Israel, when the US finally gives up its support of Israel, then she will stand alone even as the scripture records that it will occur.
The days are darkening and are likely to grow even darker leading to this end time. Our only hope is a turning back to God. God places our turning as the motivation for His action. If this turning does not happen it will be because of what He had told us: in those days it will be as it was in the days of Noah and Lot. In those days there were not found enough righteous in the land for His own justified salvation of the people. So He removed and protected those who were His before His destruction was unleashed. America will one day fall before the world providing the way for Israel’s demise and interestingly her salvation, which is then followed by the worlds demise and Jesus’ coming. This all happens before the world will be made new with His coming.
Until then pray, and hold on to your faith.
