I think of Messiah when I think of two sides of His purpose. Two comings. There was a first and a second coming. Can you prove that the Bible teaches a third?
I think of His Grace and His Mercy: and I think of His Wrath: two sides.
I think of man myself included. I think of his sin, my sin; and I think of the contrite and penitent/and being fogiven. I think of the flesh that perishes; and I think of the Spirit that lives on. The flesh that dies and the resurrected body that will bow before Christ. Every man will bow.
I think of the Word of God both written and Living made flesh which dwelt among that generation and lives within His own.
I think of the Kingdom of God. It is an Eternal kingdom that was begun with Christ in His resurrection; and I think of His earthly Kingdom that will begin with His return to earth- a temporary kingdom preparing for the eternal. In it every man begins to understand and know His judgment. The one is an eternal Kingdom; the other is heaven come to earth for one millennia. All of this is brought to us through the Bible.
We can ignore it. We can ignore parts of it. We can twist its meaning or we can embrace it. We can love it as God’s truth or we can hate it.
You can elect to walk in the sinful flesh without a contrite heart and think that you are the recipient of an unconditional love that requires nothing from you; but you can do that only if the Bible teaches such. Are you sure that this is its message?
Study to show yourself approved a workman, who needeth not be ashamed.
Yes this is from the Bible, and yes it does place an emphasis on your work. And further it is from the apostle who is known best for his emphasis on the gospel of grace
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (KJV)
Just how important was this to the Apostle who we are told emphasized grace alone for our salvation?
1 Timothy 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. (KJV)
Work out your own salvation in fear and trembling. Fear not them who can kill the body, but fear Him who is able to destroy both the body and soul in hell. Yes we love Him because He first loved us, but if He does not make you tremble at times; then you may not understand just how much He hates sin. Even your fruit as a believer comes from Him (Christ in you the hope of Glory). Be a branch in Him that bears His fruit, for without Him you can do nothing. If this blog is not allowing Christ to inspire you; then avoid it. If it produces a desire for more of Christ in your life; then share it with others. Love each of you. Yes, even those of you who think me to be a bit off.
