I once wrote a letter to a gentleman whom Ellen and I had met in the pool of our complex. I did this after he had told me that there is no God. He did this in such a way so as to shock me and others. He exited the pool and lifted his arms to heaven, and shouted in a loud voice::”God if you’re up there strike me dead.” Then he proceeded to say to me: “see there is no God”.
I was taken aback, but I was not done. I’ve prayed for him and wrote him a letter. In that letter I explained to him how His actions only proved how much God loved Him, and that that love had already been displayed for Him on the cross as He died for his sins. I offered to buy his dinner and answer his questions should he ever want to do that. So far he has not taken me up on that offer, but in our meetings now he is very cordial, and I just let him know in the same way that I still respect him as a person who God created.
This message reminded me that I need to be that way to all who I meet. Jp
