We had watched an episode of the Chosen. The emoting that comes from some of those interactions are so real, because they were real. The times were so different, than our own, but the emotions then were not.
The Jewish men whom Jesus had chosen were no strangers to life’s hardships. Life was not easy, not as it is for most of us. Living was not easy, and certainly not under Roman rule. They were in a sense prepared, if anyone can ever be prepared for what was coming for them.
Thus my thinking about our own lives, and the children: About the men who are empowered with technology beyond even the perception of the men and women of past times. Evil then in some ways like the evil of our time, but the difference within the weaponry of this day only makes it as Jesus stated that it would become: Great tribulation such that the world has never seen, and it would.be prevalent in society.
Today we are and we must resist what is happening; what we see coming. This brings a new meaning to resisting the devil. The idea that all men are good may still be the prevailing thought in society, but even they see an evil side. To them God is evil, and His followers are starting to be seen as the real evil among them.
The disciples and followers of Jesus were not men unlike us, but they were not raised on beds of ease as most of us have been today. Just what that will mean for us is beginning to haunt me. I struggle with just what it means to have family members unable to endure these times while remaining true to God.
I write, hoping that they might just see the dangers and come to rely on this One who is the way; the only way to be overcomers in this life. Give us all eyes to see Lord.
