Jesus lists this key as a significant sign among the signs of His coming. Yesterday we saw that the beginning of birth pangs to come are to be triggered before this key sign is to come, and surely what He outlined has happened in many of our lifetimes. It has come before the spreading of the good news to the whole world.

And now this gospel is being studied and translated and it’s teaching is right now under way in the very last of those languages or dialects. Those heretofore without it, and it is now being made available to all tribes formerly unable to hear it in their language. What a way-mark in Gods timeline.

But Jesus said that there are definitely things on the heals of that way-mark. You and I will need God’s wisdom and His power in our lives to deal with this time, but we must remember that we are here for this very time. It is not our understanding that we need but God’s. We will be given, according to Jesus not according to man, the very words to speak in these days to come surrounding that gospel event as it is being spoken to every nation. During this time we will be taken and we will stand before powerful men:

Mark 13:9 “But be on your guard; for they will deliver you to [the] courts, and you will be flogged in [the] synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them. (NASB1995)

Just as an aside, when I read this, I say: Lord what does synagogues have to do with us in these days when in Your word it also says that Satan is out to destroy Jews, (Rev 12)? Above is the word meaning for the word in question:

We will be delivered to courts and will go before assemblies of men who have power over those taken (some possibly Jews). There are among world and local leaders, very powerful Jews today, who still know not Jesus. We will be there as a witness to and for Jesus:

Mark 13:11 “When they arrest you and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but [it is] the Holy Spirit. (NASB1995)

Notice that God’s main interest and direction in these times is your connection to Him. He is in control of your life and your words in these days. He may speak life or condemnation to these men as He did with Prophets, with John the Baptist, and as even Jesus Himself spoke to many in order to prick the consciences.

Verse 12&13 tell us that there will be believers in Jesus who wii be hated and even killed in these days.

I hesitated telling you these things in just this way, but they are God’s word surrounding the spread of the gospel in our day. If I do not tell you; then I am no good to you or to God as His watchman on the wall.

We must draw close, and press in to Him. These are the days that His Spirit is announcing: “prepare ye the way of the Lord”
