Psalm 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. (KJV)
Today repentance is far from being a requirement for Salvation. Why I wonder is that? We live in a “me” society, we produce men and women who are proud even of their sin. So why should one need to repent before God for sin when one cannot see his sin. In most churches today there is no preaching on sin, so, so often the convicting power that is in the word is missing. Even in Jesus day man still had a conscience.
John 8:9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. (KJV)
God gave us a conscience to make us think, and then to chose to then be contrite in repentance or as a matter of choice arrogant in the ignoring of our own conscience.
So, today I fear that we are like men in Noah’s day, when men no longer feared God, and sin was not the issue of life, and man did whatever his mind conceived. And God destroyed them with the flood.
The Catholic Church, though it has never in our lifetime preached the gospel, today seems to have lost its ability to even prick the conscience, because it is losing its own conscience, and men are leaving as a result. This recent article from mlive, titled: Michigan residents leaving the Catholic Church as many turn away from religion, is proof of this.
Yet, I continues to see Christians stand against any need to repent. But God’s word says:
Psalm 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. (KJV) man’s salvation is at risk in our teaching.
1 Timothy 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. (KJV)
I hear men today say that it is impossible to even know what sins we have committed. So, many see repentance as a work, and insist that repentance at the time of salvation is thus prohibited. Repentance, It is said would be working for your salvation.
God’s Word to the Church of the Laodiceans… “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.”
Repentance is our response to His loving correction. How blessed we are to know of such love…
“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches…”
Blessings

What a word. We have been talking about that ourselves. Too many people say ‘oh God knows me’ They think God winks at their sin. He does NOT! Possibly those are the ones that will hear the dreaded words ‘Away from me you workers of iniquity.’ I pray always that I do not hear those words. My first prayer is always Here am I Lord. My second is show me Lord and my third is please Lord, let me hear Well done my good and faithful servant not away from Me you worker of iniquity. He may not have given me much ‘talent’ but I want to be faithful in what He did give me. I don’t want one single thing hidden. If I could shout from the roof top for people to be saved I surely would! God Bless brother. I wish I had more time to read.

Christian you may not think that you have much talent, but little is much in God’s hand, and you brother speak from and into the heart. Love you in Him.
