Terry, it seems to me that the point of this comfort is directed to those who had not heard that the dead in Christ would one day live or be resurrected. That event Paul says is scheduled to take place with the return of Christ, and before those who are still alive at that time would be caught up.
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Also I would challenge you to find one article on my site that suggests hoarding food and water. Those alive before the Lord returns will overcome Satan with the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony. I do offer my book on my site, but beyond that I offer nothing for sale. The word of God itself is at the center of our differences in belief. And these are the things we should discuss. The friction that your article generates between believers is in my estimation not helpful to the cause of Christ.
